The Youth Development Foundation Series provides participants with knowledge and skills to buildstructured,safe spaces for youth where they can develop a sense of belonging through feeling supported and heard. Participants will learn the foundational skills to support youth to build new skillsthrough participating in small groups and learning through active engagement.   

 

Structure and Clear Limits 


Training Objectives 

Participants will: 

  1. Describe how Structure and Clear Limits meet the developmental needs of youth. 

  2. Assess ways to improve their programs’ structure. 

  3. Establish limits for their programs. 

 

Ask-Listen-Encourage 


Training Objectives 

Participants will: 

  1. Explain the concept of positive, purposeful interaction with youth. 

  2. Name the characteristics of effective questions. 

  3. Define the concept of active listening. 

  4. Summarize the characteristics of effective positive responses to youth and their work. 

 

Cooperative Learning 


Training Objectives 

Participants will: 

  1. Define Cooperative Learning. 

  2. Utilize a variety of group forming strategies (Group Formers) and group work structures (Group Structures). 

  3. Explain through peer to peer and whole group discussion how Cooperative Learning helps to meet the social and intellectual needs of youth. 

  4. Discuss how to apply four complementary strategies to engineer successful Cooperative Learning structures. 

Date Information


Participants are REQUIRED TO ATTEND ALL THREE TRAININGS in the series and complete the assignments in between trainings.

CEU Information

Upon successful completion of this training series and follow up assignment(s), the participant will earn 12 clock hours (1.2 CEUs) of training.

 

If requesting CEUs, participants must check the box below and enter their registry ID number.

 

Participants must be Prime Time registry members in order to receive CEUs for trainings.

Participants must complete all assignments satisfactorily, attend all sessions of this training series, miss no more than 15 minutes of total training time and actively participate during training sessions to receive CEUs  for this training series.

Thank you for your interest in attending Prime Time trainings. We are currently experiencing a very high volume of registrations. We are working to enroll practitioners who are not currently being paid first, so that they may receive a stipend for training participation. You may be placed on a wait list. We encourage you to continue trying to register for other trainings. If you receive notification that you have been enrolled, you may be eligible for an incentive upon successful completion of the training. Please complete the registration form in order to be considered.
