2020 Taiko Census

Page 1

Welcome to the 2020 Taiko Census, produced by the Taiko Community Alliance (TCA). This census will be open to responses until Monday, November 30, 2020 at 11:59 PM HST. Our aim is to reach as many people as possible, so we can better understand the full scope of who makes up the taiko community. This understanding will guide TCA initiatives to align with the needs of the taiko community’s members.

After completing this survey, we will ask you to name up to 3 additional people who may want to participate in the Taiko Census. In particular, we’d like help reaching those who are new taiko players and those who are not current TCA members or have not yet had a chance to attend TCA-affiliated events.

The information you submit with this form will not be shared. When reporting on the results of the 2020 Taiko Census, data will only be represented in aggregate to ensure your privacy. For any questions about how your data is stored and accessed, please reach out to: census@taikocommunityalliance.org

TAIKO PARTICIPATION

Taiko Community Engagement

Taiko Biography
Your "taiko biography" consists of any groups/ensembles you currently participate in, as well as those you have participated in previously. The term "group" is loosely defined and can include any affiliations, such as schools of taiko, short-term projects, solo artists, etc.

Please list all "groups" with whom you've participated. This will help us not only understand how the taiko community is connected, but also ensure we have the most complete list of groups that exist (or did exist).

e.g., Puna Taiko

Not sure which classification(s) are most appropriate for your group? Choose "other" and let us know what you would call your group!

If you are not active as a result of COVID-19, but would otherwise be active, please select "Yes."

Would you be willing to fill out supplemental questions related to how you engage with taiko?
These questions will take approximately 5 minutes to complete in total and will help TCA to shape our strategic vision, program offerings, and overall planning.

You have reached the end of the 2020 Taiko Census.
Before you submit your responses, would you mind recommending (at least) three people to pass this census along to? These recommendations are optional, but would go a long way toward ensuring that the data we collect represents as much of the taiko community as possible.

To maintain transparency about how TCA received these emails, anyone you recommend who has not already completed the census will receive an email listing you as the person who referred them, unless they have already completed the census or been referred by someone else.

Thank you for your time! In our efforts to map this vast taiko community, your support in getting the word out is invaluable. If you could continue to share the link to this form with your network, we would be incredibly grateful.

TEACHING TAIKO

This is the final section of the 2020 Taiko Census. The following questions specifically seek to define common practices of instruction within the taiko community. Individual responses will not be published. Responses will always be presented in aggregate.

Please list as many as applicable to you.

Please give an estimate to the total number of students seen by the school, and not only those you engage with.
