Qualifying Information

Cumulative GPA based on a 4.0 scale on your most recent official transcript from CSN. Round down to the nearest tenth, for example if you have a 2.99 select "2.9." 
*If you are a first year student entering CSN in Fall 2021 please use your High School GPA.
Residency:
  • *Nevada Resident (lived in NV for a minimum of 12 months before the beginning of the semester; catalog language)
  • Out of State (lived in NV less than 12 months before the beginning of the semester)
  • International - F-1 Visa student
Qualifying for Nevada Residency

Residency regulations have been established by the Board of Regents of the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE). Generally, the categories listed below qualify for Nevada resident status. For specific definitions and supporting documentations, please refer to the Board of Regents Handbook, Title 4, Chapter 15, Sections 1 - 4.
  1.  Nevada high school graduate.
  2.  Established residency at another NSHE institution- UNLV, UNR, NSC, GBC, TMCC, or WNC.
  3.  Member of the U.S. Armed Forces on active duty in the state of Nevada or his/her qualified legal dependent
  4.  Full-time licensed personnel employed by a public school district in Nevada or his/her qualified legal dependent.
  5.  Teacher currently employed full-time in Nevada or his/her qualified legal dependent.
  6.  Professional or classified employee of NSHE employed at least half-time or his/her qualified legal dependent.
  7.  Relocation for employment to the state of Nevada (applies to qualified legal dependent).
  8.  Member of a Native American tribe currently residing on tribal land located within Nevada.
  9.  A student with continuous physical presence in the state of Nevada for at least 12 months before the beginning of the semester.

Listed below are the scholarships you are eligible for based on the criteria you provided.  You can choose to apply for multiple scholarships at this time.  Each scholarship application will require an essay response and some might require additional attachments such as a transcript or letters of recommendation. 

Please read about each scholarship and select "yes" or "no" for each response.

Based on the criteria you have provided, you are not eligible for the scholarships offered at this time.  The CSN Foundation is always working to add more opportunities for our students, so be sure to visit us next year.

We encourage you to research national scholarship opportunities made available through the College Scholarships portal. The site has a search function that allows you to look quickly based on your location, school, degree and major. It is common for millions of dollars in scholarships to go unclaimed because of a lack of applications. Make the time to go through the website, apply for all eligible scholarships and equally important – be sure to apply for FAFSA or the CSN Alternative Scholarship.

American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE) Scholarship - ($2,500 Award)
The American Society of Professional Estimators created this scholarship to help cover tuition, fees and educational related expenses of a CSN student pursuing their Construction Management Degree.

Assistance League of Las Vegas (ALLV) Scholarship - ($2,500 Award)
Assistance League of Las Vegas Scholarship program offers scholarships to CSN students who are pursuing a certificate of achievement.
Other Requirements:
  • Applicants must be Clark County Resident, proof of residency may be required.
  • Applicants must be enrolled in at least 9 credits.

Breakthru Beverage Scholarship - ($3,000 Award)
This scholarship was created by Wirtz Breakthru Beverage Nevada to support two CSN students.
Other Requirements:
  • Applicants must be first year students entering CSN in the Fall.

Bruce Marshall Dunn Culinary Scholarship - ($2,500 Award)
This memorial scholarship was created by the Dunn family to help support a CSN student in the Culinary program. 

Cardenas Market Scholarship - ($2,500 Award)
The Cardenas Markets Foundation scholarship supports students who have a relentless desire to achieve their dreams for a higher education and express a commitment to serve their community.
Other Requirements:
  • Scholarship will be awarded to students with demonstrated studies or knowledge of Latinx/Hispanic culture, and/or history, that can be illustrated through submitted written materials as part of the application process.
  • This scholarship will require applicants to attach 2 letters of recommendation from CSN Faculty/Staff.

CSN Foundation Student Success Scholarship - ($2,500 Award)
In support of CSNs vision of student success, the CSN Foundation has created these scholarships to support students in their education journey.
Other Requirements:
  • Scholarship will be awarded to students with demonstrated studies or knowledge or Latinx/Hispanic or Black/African American culture, and/or history, that can be illustrated through submitted written materials as part of the application process. 

Dan & Marie Salik Scholarship - ($2,500 Award)
The Dan & Marie Salik Scholarship created by Marie in honor of her late husband, Dan. He was a sports lover and enjoyed little league football and golf!

George Floyd Memorial Scholarship - ($2,500 Award)
The College of Southern Nevada and CSN Foundation established the George Floyd Memorial Scholarship in response to the racial justice movement his death symbolizes.
Other Requirements:
  • Scholarship will be awarded to students with demonstrated studies or knowledge of Black, African American culture, and/or history, that can be illustrated through submitted written materials as part of the application process.

Grainger Tools for Tomorrow Scholarship - ($2,000 Award)
The Grainger Tools for Tomorrow Scholarship Program has partnered with education and workforce development to positively impact future generations of the skilled trades, public safety and supply chain professionals.
Other Requirements:
  • This scholarship will require applicants to attach the following: 1 letter of recommendation from a professor, teacher, or advisor
  • This scholarship will require applicants to attach the following: a list of clubs, activities, accomplishments, leadership roles held , and years involved, including those relating to their field of study.

Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors Scholarship - ($2,500 Award)
This Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors Scholarship was created to support students pursuing any degree or certification program.

Helen Close Foundation Scholarship - ($2,500 Award)
The late Helen Close organized a charitable foundation to provide scholarship primarily for education, human services and community improvement.

HOT 97.5 and David Wilson’s Toyota Scholarship - ($3,000 Award)
The HOT 97.5 & David Wilson's Toyota of Las Vegas scholarship was created support a first year CSN student and another student studying Transportation Technologies.
Other Requirements:
  • Preference to a First year student.
  • Preference to student studying Transportation Technologies.

Insurance Agents & Brokers of Nevada Scholarship - ($2,500 Award)
This scholarship, funded by the Nevada Surplus Lines Association, was created to award to students who are in the business colleges or programs, and to create awarenes of career opportunities within the insurance industry.
Other Requirements:
  • Preference to those with interest or emphasis in Accounting, Insurance or Risk Management.

J. Duncan Goodrich Scholarship - ($2,500 Award)
This scholarship was created by the Goodrich family and intended to award students interested in continuing their education and completing their HVAC Technology degree at CSN after high school or the Dual Enrollment Skills certificate.
Other Requirements:
  • Applicants need to have successfully completed (C or better) 20 credits of AC coursework.
  • Applicants must be enrolled in 10 credits.

Jan Marie Barnhurst Memorial Scholarship - ($2,500 Award)
The Jan Marie Barnhurst Memorial Scholarship was set up by her husband after her death. Jan Marie was in the first graduating class of Dental Hygienists from, what was then known as, Clark County Community College.

John & Jean Sherwin Trust Scholarship - ($2,500 Award)
John and Jean Sherwin Scholarship was created to support students who were attending College of Southern Nevada.

John Kish Hospitality Scholarship - ($2,500 Award)
This scholarship was created by the John Kish Foundation to support students who are pursuing a degree in Business/Hospitality.
Other Requirements:
  • Preference to Henderson Residents, proof of residency may be required.

Leslie and Joan Dunn Nursing Scholarship - ($2,500 Award)
The Dunn family created this scholarship to help support students pursuing their nursing degree at CSN.

Hites Family MGM Mirage Scholarship - ($2,500 Award)
This endowed scholarship was established by the Hites Family and MGM Mirage to support CSN students pursuing a four-year degree at another NSHE institution. This $8,000 scholarship per student is paid over four semesters to complete their bachelor’s degree
Other Requirements:
  • This scholarship will require applicants to attach an updated transcript (Unofficial transcripts are available online. Please follow these directions here: https://www.csn.edu/sites/default/files/u2241/instructions_printing_unofficial_transcript_through_mycsn.pdf ).
  • Applicants must have accumulated a minimum of 50 semester hours at the time of transferring to a baccalaureate-degree granting institution- must provide Verification of enrollment at time of application.
  • Scholarship will be distributed when the recipient has been accepted and enrolled as a full-time student in one of the NSHE institutions (Great Basin College, Nevada State College, University of Nevada, Las Vegas, University of Nevada, Reno) and pursuing their baccalaureate degree.
  • During the first and second years of the scholarship award, the student must be classified as a full-time student and must maintain that status throughout the semester to be eligible for renewal.
  • Students must maintain a 2.75 grade point average during the first semester of the first year and a 3.00 cumulative grade point average during each of the following semesters.

Natural Science Scholarship - ($2,500 Award)
This scholarship was created on behalf of the Natural Science Association to support students pursuing a degree in Natural Sciences.

Nevada Society of Certified Public Accountants Scholarship - ($1,200 Award)
The Nevada CPA Foundation for Education and Research was founded in 1969 and has funded and annual scholarship to support and encourage CSN students studying accounting and in their pursuit of the CPA license.

NV Energy Cyber Security Scholarship - ($2,500 Award)
This scholarship was created by NV Energy Foundation to support CSN students pursing a degree in Cyber Security.

NV Energy Information Technology Scholarship - ($2,500 Award)
This scholarship was created by NV Energy Foundation to support CSN students pursing a degree in Information Technology

Paul Laxalt Scholarship - ($2,500 Award)
This scholarship was originally created from funds from the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States and named after U.S. Senator Paul Laxalt.

Pepsi Scholarship - ($2,000 Award)
Pepsi provides support for one scholarship annually.

Ralph & Betty Engelstad SHS Limited Entry Program Scholarship - ($2,000 Award)
The Ralph & Betty Engelstad School of Health Sciences Limited Entry Scholarship is awarded to students in the Limited Entry programs who demonstrate financial need, excellence in academics, community service, and an ability to overcome traditional barriers to learning.
Other Requirements:
  • This scholarship will require applicants to attach a record of their volunteer hours (optional).

Robert E. Clark Photography Scholarship - ($1,000 Award)
The Clark family created this scholarship to benefit undergraduates enrolled in the CSN's Photography program.
Other Requirements:
  • This scholarship will require applicants have taken a min. of 6 credits in PHO courses taught at CSN.
  • This scholarship will require that applicants will be enrolling in at least 3 credit hours in PHO courses taught at CSN.

Southern Nevada Retired Teachers Association Scholarship - ($2,000 Award)
The Southern Nevada Retired Teachers' Association is an organization of retired and former school employees whose purpose is to promote the professional, social and economic welfare of all retired persons. They created this scholarship for CSN students who are pursuing their studies in Education.

W & E Smith Scholarship - ($2,500 Award)
This scholarship was created by W and E Smith Foundation to help support Boulder City residents in their academic career.
Other Requirements:
  • Applicants must be a Boulder City resident, proof of residency may be required.

W. Russell Warner Scholarship - ($2,500 Award)
The W. Russell Warner Scholarship supports CSN students who were returning to school after taking five or more years off.
Other Requirements:
  • Applicants must be a minimum of 5 years out of high school.

Wing and Lily Fong Scholarship - ($2,500 Award)
Wing and Lily Fong were known for their contributions to the community. This scholarship supports CSN students pursuing a college education.

Zavala Harris Charitable Fund Engineering Technology Scholarship - ($15,000 Award)
This scholarship was created to support two students pursuing their UAS AAS degree. Recipients will receive $15,000 over two years as they complete their degree.

Scholarship Essay Portion - Required 
Before You Start
  • When writing your essay prompt response, it is our recommendation that you draft your responses using your preferred word processing software, such as Microsoft Word, Google Docs, or Appleworks, to assist in formatting and editing.  Then copy and paste your responses in the corresponding space upon completion.  

  • The Centers for Academic Success (CAS) provides quality DROP-IN academic assistance to all students enrolled in courses at CSN. If interested, CAS may be able to provide academic support when writing your essay response(s).  Check out their website for more information https://www.csn.edu/centers-academic-success.

  • If you are requesting a letter of recommendation, be sure to reach out to someone who can speak to your educational commitments.  This might include a professor, supervisor, coach or advisor.  Always be sure to give your requestor ample time to write your letter and return it in pdf. format.
