Kavod HaBriot or human dignity is a core Jewish value, though it is too frequently undermined or not lived out to its fullest. Failing to heed the centrality of human dignity can have a variety of practical, emotional, spiritual, and psychological consequences for those whom society marginalizes, particularly those in disability communities. In this three-session series, we will explore classical and contemporary Jewish sources on human dignity, with an emphasis placed on taking what we learn from the text and applying it in the classroom or other educational spaces. This series is geared towards: rabbis, cantors and Jewish educators, with the goal of introducing participants to a Jewishly-rooted, disability-affirmative framework. No background in disability justice theory is required.
