Video Portfolio and Video Interview

The video portfolio and/or interview process provide an opportunity for us to learn more about you. You only have to choose one of the following options: 

Option 1:  Video Portfolio Submission
Option 2:  Video Interview

If you choose option 1, review the guidelines and submit your video portfolio below.  Please note, SVEF may reach out to you for a video meeting to further clarify your interest and/or qualifications.

If you choose option 2, and if the hiring committee feel that you are an ideal candidate based on your submitted application, SVEF will reach out to schedule a Zoom video interview. 

Video Portfolio:

8-10 minute video - please be creative and show us your personality.  Your video should include the following:

-Tell us a little about yourself.

-With SVEF's mission being, "to deliver and advocate for STEM education that inspires underserved students to succeed in college and careers.", why are you interested in being a college mentor for Elevate [Math]?

-Do you have prior experience working with students, specifically low-income or students of color? If so, what grade levels/ages? (Grade Preference)

-Tell us what cultural competency and anti-racist work means to you?

-Please share how your journey and/or identity can help support students who are further from access to resources?

-In this role, one of your main tasks is being a strong role model to your students. What is a role model, and how do you fit that definition?

-What are some tools to build relationships and support students both academically and emotionally? 

-Why is pursuing higher education important and how will you get students motivated/excited about college? 

-What is your level of experience with Zoom and how have you used it?

-What is your level of experience with Google Classroom and the Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, Slides, etc)

-What is your level of comfort with learning new tech platforms and then helping others, teachers and students specifically, with those platforms?

-Throughout the program, a large part of your role will be making calls home to families when students are absent. How comfortable are you talking on the phone?
