Volunteer Interest Form

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with JTB. We have several volunteer opportunities that become available throughout the year. Below are a list of programs, descriptions, and timeframe of each program. Please select each program you are interested in volunteering for and JTB will contact you as the program approaches.

Summer Judicial Internship Diversity (SJID) Project

Check here if you are a judge who would like to host a JTB intern in your chambers for the summer of 2023. Participating judges will receive up to three candidates to interview for the position. Judges will receive the official registration form in September 2022 with further details and information. The purpose of the SJID Project is to place diverse law students in the chambers of federal judges for summer internships. In order to ensure the success of this program, our pre-referral process includes a screening and a mandatory training process in connection with the placement of interns. JTB seeks lawyers, law professors, and clerks to review candidates of the project for different rounds of review. The review process runs from January through March and volunteers can register for up to three different rounds.

Summer Legal Institute

This summer program for high school students centers around an oral argument competition. Volunteers will teach students how to brief a case and apply the rules, provide tips on public speaking, and prepare students to argue their case. Additionally, volunteers can provide workshops and presentations on financial literacy, topics in law, professional etiquette, and more!

ConnectED

This virtual summer program seeks to "light a spark" of interest in the legal field for high school and middle school students. JTB seeks legal professionals to share their journey to the legal profession, provide virtual courthouse or law firm tours, discuss current social justice initiatives and a variety of other topics.

Scholar Prep

This school-year program is designed to introduce high school students to the legal field. JTB seeks legal professionals to discuss college and law school admissions, participate in lawyer panels, on different practice areas of law.

College Essay Mentorship Project:

This fall program aims to provide assistance to high school juniors and seniors applying for college. Volunteers will be matched with one student to help them write and edit their college entrance essays. Volunteers will also serve a role as a mentor, offering advice on the essays, the college application process, and other tips to help them navigate their path to and through university.

Tea Time with Attorneys

This virtual one-day undergraduate program helps students navigate the law school admissions process and provides information on various legal career paths. JTB seeks firms or corporate counsels to host the event involving panels and sessions on interview and resume building, law school applications, problem solving, critical reading and analysis.
