WSLP runs from June 2021 - March 2022. The schedule amounts to over 16 days of training including (1) program orientation, a (3) day opening retreat, (5) weekday leadership sessions, (4) weekday strategy sessions, (3) system change project prep sessions, (2) optional evening sessions and Coro community events, (1) weekday presentation showcase and graduation. Due to the experiential nature of our training and the importance of the group in our work together, and commitment to attend all program sessions is preferred.
Due to known or unexpected circumstances, we understand that participants may need to miss a session. A total of 3 absences are possible with no more than 1 absence for a strategy session, no more than 1 absence for a leadership session, and no more than 1 absence for a system change project session. Absences exceeding this could result in your withdrawal from the program.
Full participation/attendance in the Opening Retreat from June 16-18 and the Showcase/Graduation on March 23 is required. The program calendar can be found on our website. Please note that WSLP will convene virtually until it is safe to meet in person and in compliance with CDC and DOH guidelines. All sessions from June-August will be held virtually from 9:30-3:00. If we are able to host in-person events in September, we will resume normal program hours from 9:00-5:30 pm. Please hold these dates and times on your calendar accordingly. All participants will be given ample notice before we return to in-person programming.
Participants also commit to self organizing time outside of the program to work on their System Change Projects. Previous participants report spending approximately 30-50 additional hours over the course of the year meeting and connecting with their change project groups as well as conducting individual research. Due to the generous support of our funders, there is no tuition for this program. A $100 materials fee is required upon acceptance.
If you have any questions about this program/commitment, please reach out to Cassandra Garita, Program Manager, at (212)248-2935 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
