About This Grant
Hemophilia Federation of America is awarding grants for up to $1000 to help the bleeding disorders community pay for technical skills training or certification.

Applications are processed as soon as they are received and will be available until all grants have been distributed, so be sure to apply today!

There are many non-college courses and certifications available to help you secure a better paying position, find a new job that’s easier on joints or transition into your dream job. Gaining a new technical skill may set you apart from other job applicants. You can read about past grantees on our website. Examples of technical skills include:
  • Microsoft Office 365
  • Customer support
  • Graphic Design
  • UX/UI Design
  • Bookkeeping
  • Medical Billing
  • Project Management
  • Salesforce Administration
Application Requirements
  • Applicant must be a person with a bleeding disorder between the ages of 18 to 64.
  • Past recipients of a Job Readiness grant cannot apply. 
  • Applicants cannot be HFA board members, HFA staff, or immediate family members of board or staff.
  • Funds must be used for technical skills course or certification.

  • This completed online application
  • A brief statement of need (200 - 1,000 words)
  • Proof of a bleeding disorder 
  • Documentation of course or certification cost
  • Your resume  (optional)
  • Reference letter (optional)

Material Submission

STATEMENT OF NEED:

In 200-1000 words, please explain:
  • What barriers have you faced in securing financially and physically sustainable employment?
  • What skills will you gain from the training or certification, and how will they help you secure sustainable employment and reach your career goals?
PROOF OF BLEEDING DISORDER:
  • Include a letter from your doctor or a screenshot of medical visit notes showing your name, birthdate and diagnosis.
DOCUMENTATION OF COST:
  • Upload a file showing the course name and cost or upload a complete Documentation of Expense form (download). 
RESUME (OPTIONAL):

REFERENCE LETTER (OPTIONAL):
  • Reference letters are optional and may be submitted with this online application or emailed to helpinghands@hemophiliafed.org. Your reference may submit a letter written in their own words, or they can use this template (download).

Review & Selection Process
Applications are processed as soon as they are received and will be available until all grants have been distributed. Grant recipients are determined by a committee of HFA. All decisions made by the committee are final. All information submitted with this application will become the property of HFA.

All information contained in this application will be utilized in the determination decision. Applications must be complete to be eligible for consideration. Grant recipients will be notified by email, and grant funds will be distributed no later than one month after your application is submitted. HFA will pay the institution directly for the cost of the course (exceptions made on a case-by-case basis). If you are selected for a grant, we will ask for additional information to facilitate the payment process.
