STG’S DANCE This: Pop-Up Workshops

Seattle Theatre Group invites you to register for our upcoming DANCE This: Pop-up Workshops! Join us for a series of dance classes offered in a variety of styles to participants 13 years and older. The workshops are a mixture of in-person and zoom classes offered at no charge.

Due to space and restrictions on number of people please only register for workshops you plan on attending. 

COVID Precautions:
For workshops that will be in-person below, STG will be following CDC guidelines and protocols. Masks will be required for all participants, instructors and staff at all times, social distancing will be adhered as well as health screening upon check-in. Participants should bring/wear their own masks and bring a marked water bottle. For more information on STG’s Safety Protocols that will be in-place read HERE.

Samba Reggae with Bahia In Motion

Taught via Zoom
Open to ages 13 and over

Join us for this fun and energetic class as we explore the history, movements and rhythms of Samba Reggae. The Samba Reggae rhythm emerged out of the Civil Rights and Black Pride movements. Samba Reggae is a symbol of Afro-Brazilian pride and plays a very important role in the identity of Afro-Brazilians today. Its rhythms are powerful, joyful and uplifting. The historical contexts of both of these Brazilian dance forms will be discussed. Get ready to dance, sway, sweat and smile!

Seeds of Movement with Ellie Sandstrom & Etienne Cakpo

Open to students 13+

This outdoor workshop will offer the opportunity to safely explore dance within the beautiful landscape of Fort Worden State Park. Through Afro Contemporary Dance and improvisation, participants will be guided through the process of growth, through movement... planting the seeds for a rooted foundation to discover creative development. This class is open to movers of all kinds and no dance experience is required. Every body is welcome.

Waiver/Release
I recognize that risk of illness and/or injury may be inherent in any dance training; however, the above identified student is participating with the express agreement of, and understanding that Seattle Theatre Group and its directors, officers, employees and agents are hereby released from any and all claims, costs, liabilities, expenses, or judgments associated with this training program. I hereby execute and deliver this Waiver and Release form to induce Seattle Theatre Group to permit the above identified student to participate in the DANCE This program. STG reserves the right to ask for, if needed, additional documentation to verify age for this youth program.

I hereby understand that Seattle Theatre Group may take photographs and/or video of the student enrolled on this form, and I authorize Seattle Theatre Group to use these photographs and video for archival and publicity purposes.

I hereby grant the Seattle Theatre Group, its staff and volunteers permission to administer first aid and/or call 911 in the case of a medical emergency while I/my child is attending classes, rehearsals, and performances. I realize and understand that Seattle Theatre Group will attempt to notify parents/guardians or emergency contact in case of an emergency.

If the participant is under 18 years of age, then the participant's parent or legal guardian represents and warrants that they have read and agree to all terms on behalf of the participant.
