YOLA National is excited to offer scholarship support for travel and lodging to a select/limited number of in-personattendees at the 2021 Symposium. Note: Virtual attendees need not apply for scholarship, as virtual attendance is free.   


In this form, we are requesting the following information: 

-Basic information and details about the applicant to process your request  

-Which types of support you are requesting (ground transportation, hotel, or airfare) 

-Essay questions 

  • What are you hoping to learn and gain from the Symposium? How can this further your work in youth development and music and how would you plan to share this with your colleagues at your home program? * (250 words max) 

  • This year's symposium theme is Change. Tell us about how an adaptation you had to make to your work during the pandemic has informed how you plan to teach or work in the post-pandemic era? What did you learn? * (250 words max) 

Please plan to finish this form in one session/sitting, as you will not be able to save your work and return later. This will take between 20-30 minutes 


Scholarship applications will be accepted until August 15, 2021, and applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

Use this section to apply for parking support if you live within 50 miles of LA.

If granted a waiver for airfare, ground transportation to and from LAX to the Symposium or hotel will be provided. Ground transportation between the airport and your home will NOT be provided.  Once at the conference, no other ground transportation is provided unless otherwise specified. 

Shared accommodations will be in a double room unless otherwise specified. Please keep in mind that we will only be accommodating 4 nights  stay at the hotel or 5 night  max if attending the pre-symposium day. Those choosing a departure date prior to your Symposium start date will have to make your own hotel accommodations.
