Artist INC LIVE is a training seminar designed to address the specific professional and entrepreneurial challenges that artists of all disciplines face in their practices.  Artists learn and grow together through artist facilitator mentoring, small group activities, large group discussions, multi-media lectures and a remarkable opportunity for networking with other artists.

Approximately 25 artists will be selected through a competitive application process to engage in an eight-week training seminar led by a team of five trained peer facilitators.

The application selection process takes into consideration quality of work, readiness for the program, and diversity of the seminar cohort.  The panelists will be asked to consider the applications through the lens of equity. Great care is taken to ensure diversity and inclusion in all its definitions including demographics (gender, age, and ethnicity) and artistic discipline (including visual, performing, literary, and film).

Topics for the 8-week sessions are:

Your Map: Strategic Planning and Goal Setting
Your Story: Strategic Communications and Building a Personal Brand
Your Public: Writing About Your Work
Your Money: Budgets and Financial Planning
Your Value: How to Fund Your Practice
Your Plan: Artist as Solopreneur
Your Presence: Public Speaking and Online Presence
Your Work: Sharing your Work with the Public

Now in its 12th year, Artist INC has been completed by more than 1,500 artists in the Mid-America Arts Alliance region. Artist INC Houston is a program of the Mid-America Arts Alliance and is supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, the State Arts Agencies, and individuals throughout Arkansas, Kansas, Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas.
