Ingalls Shipbuilding is now
accepting applications for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
grants that will provide schools with resources for innovative and creative
projects. The application has been
changed from prior years so please review it carefully. It may be useful to print it out and refer to
it as you prepare your own application. You may wish to compose the answers to the questions in a Word program
and then copy or cut and paste text into the online application.
These STEM grants are designed to
recognize and support excellence in STEM education by providing funds to
enhance public and private K-12 school programs. The maximum amount awarded per grant is
$5000. The grants are not to be used for
professional development, travel, busing or field trips, unless the activity is
an enhancement for student learning and directly linked to the specific
Only one grant per teacher will
be awarded. The company maintains the
right to limit the number of grants per school and/or school district.
The application deadline is October 18, 2021 at midnight. Incomplete
or late applications will not be considered. Announcements of successful grant applicants will be made in December
and funds will be distributed in January 2022 for project implementation
throughout the school year.
A panel of judges will evaluate
each grant application based on the following criteria:
- Completeness of application
- Clearly stated goals and objectives that are
- Level of student involvement in projects
- Appropriateness and reasonableness of budget
- Itemization of specific costs (budget must equal
the total amount requested)
- Project innovation and creativity
