Impact potential and mission alignment: The innovation has high potential to mitigate climate change within three years, and ideally sooner, and is in line with the mission of the Blue Climate Initiative (BCI) to accelerate solutions for people, ocean and planet
Innovation: The project is innovative -- whether through a new technology, model or approach
Profitability and scalability: The innovation is a financially viable product/service and the application articulates commercial pathways for increased impact over time through scale and/or replication, including in low-tech contexts as applicable
Capacity and Feasibility: The core team is skilled and capable, and the innovation is feasible from a technical, legal and organizational perspective
Alignment with OIP Principles: The project aligns with all OIP Principles. In particular, it is designed, led, and implemented by a diverse team, with meaningful participation from those who experience the problem and those who would “use” the proposed innovation
Value of Support: The Prize’s financial and non-financial support would have a meaningful impact/additionality to establish and scale the innovation
2. If selected as a semi-finalist or winner, representatives will participate in interviews, public events and promotion related to their innovation. If selected a winner, a representative of the business/organization/group will participate actively and in person, insofar as schedule and safety allows in the Blue Climate Summit anticipated for May 14-21 2022 in French Polynesia. (One representative from each winning team will be sponsored for travel, accommodation and meal expenses.)
