Your Project Details

For example, we would say “Youth Affairs Council Victoria (YACVic) is the peak body and leading policy advocate for young people and the youth sector in Victoria. Our vision is that the rights of Victorian young people are respected, and they are active, visible and valued in their communities."
Target Audience and Age Groups

If your project participants will need to get Working With Children Checks, you can include the cost of those documents as a budget item.
Project Description and Scope

For example, we would say “Healthy Equal Youth (HEY) is a mental health and wellbeing program that supports a network of 16 partners who work with LGBTQIA+ young people across Victoria. The HEY Grants support innovative projects that improve the mental health and wellbeing of Victorian LGBTIQA+ young people.”

For example, we would say, "We will oversee the Healthy Equal Youth Grants in the latter half of 2021..."
Grant Category
HEY Grants fall under two categories.

  • Youth Led: for LGBTIQA+ young people with projects they know will support their LGBTIQA+ peers. A youth led application must be proposed and led by people who are under 25! (They can get people older than that to proofread and assist them).
  • Social Connectedness: for services to expand or improve their support for LGBTIQA+ young people, and for targeted projects for LGBTIQA+ young people that will improve their mental health and wellbeing.

Your response to this question determines what criteria your grant is marked by.
Youth Led Grant Criteria

The grants committee will assess your application against the HEY Grant Criteria.

If quoting a study, a report, or any statistics, provide a reference for where to find them. A study name with an author and year, or a web address is fine.

Social Connectedness Grant Criteria

The grants committee will assess your application against the criteria listed in the HEY small grants guidelines.

If quoting a study, a report, or any statistics, provide a reference for where to find them. A study name with an author and year, or a web address is fine.

Budget
You can budget up to a total of $10,000 for your project from HEY funding.

Be sure to include any other sources of funding your project will utilise (i.e. other grant funding, or in-kind organisational input).

Please note, if you are listing a cost for salaries, please show on costs separately. By on costs, we mean superannuation, leave loading, work-cover and any other costs associated with employment.

Item (eg. Venue hire):
If your budget isn't balancing, check your in-kind items are entered in both the income and expenditure fields. For example, if you have a venue supplied in-kind as an income item, then venue should be an equal cost in the expenditure field.
If the Balance value above is zero, your budget balances—the income equals the expenditure. Congratulations!
Support Letters
We require letters as part of the grant applications to show that the project will go ahead with the appropriate support.

You can provide up to two letters, and we recommend supplying both if you can.

If your project activities listed above involve working with, or consulting, another organisation, then we expect to see support letters from that organisation.

Please attach support letters in Word (.docx) or PDF format.
