Jack Petchey Internship Programme

Application Form 

Thank you for your interest in applying for the 2027-28 Jack Petchey Internship Programme (IP9).  We strongly recommend that you print off the guidance notes and refer to them whilst completing the application form.  The guidance notes contain the same questions as the application form.

We see this programme as a partnership between Jack Petchey Foundation, the host organisation and the intern.  Please ensure you are comfortable with the conditions below before applying. 


You can save your progress and return to this form (see top of page).  Once you have completed and submitted the form, you will be a sent a PDF of your completed application for your records.


If successful, please confirm you understand that:

  1. it will be your organisation’s responsibility to conduct a fair and accessible recruitment process
  2. your organisation will award your chosen candidate a 12 month, full-time contract from March 2027
  3. the recruitment, employment, supervision, pay and support of the intern will all be managed by your organisation
  4. the grant from the Jack Petchey Foundation will cover a portion of the direct salary costs 
  5. Your organisation has the discretion to pay the intern a salary between the National Minimum Wage (currently £12.71ph) and the Real Living Wage (currently £14.80ph for London/ £13.45ph outside London), at the appropriate rate between March 2027-February 2028.            
  6. Your organisation will take responsibility for providing the balance of funding for this post plus all on costs (Employers' National Insurance, compulsory pension payments, any additional benefits you give your employees, etc.)
  7. your intern’s employment will commence by end of March 2027.

Chief Executive/ Director’s commitment to Jack Petchey Internship Programme

  • Your organisation has the discretion to pay the intern a salary between the National Minimum Wage (currently £12.71ph from 1 May 2026) and the Real Living Wage (currently £14.80ph in London/£13.45ph outside London), at the appropriate rate from March 2026 to February 2027.
  • Your organisation will take responsibility for providing the balance of funding for this post plus all on costs (Employers' National Insurance, compulsory pension payments, any additional benefits you give your employees, etc)
  • The line manager will deliver an induction programme for the intern and provide ongoing regular supervision.
  • Both the line manager and intern will join a ‘welcome’ videocall or meeting with Jack Petchey Foundation in March 2027.
  • Both the line manager and intern will attend the Launch Conference 23-24 March 2027.  This residential for interns will take place in person in east London. There will be no costs for this conference aside from transport. 
  • The intern will be released from work to attend four professional development workshops coordinated throughout the year by Jack Petchey Foundation.
  • The Line Manager will attend a half-day review coordinated by Jack Petchey Foundation in September 2026.
  • Both line manager and intern will attend the end of internship celebration event in February 2027.
  • Both line manager and intern will complete a six-month feedback form and an end of internship feedback form
