Conversation Project Host Application

Thanks for your interest in hosting a Conversation Project program. Not all requests may be approved. You will receive notice of approval or refusal via email from an Oregon Humanities staff person with information about our decision within two weeks of receiving your application.

Please check our Conversation Project Catalog to confirm that the conversation you want to host is available in the way you want to host it (for example, some facilitators only offer in-person conversations).

We don't want cost to be a barrier and fundraise to make that possible. Please consider the full cost to host is roughly $600. If your organization is unable to pay any amount, that is okay. Any amount your organization is able to pay above the full cost, allows us to make this program available to other organizations at lower to no cost.

Why is your organization interested in hosting a Conversation Project?

Keeping in mind groups and people who represent different sectors and perspectives, who do you hope to bring together in conversation? How will this inform what organizations you partner with to host this conversation and/or how you engage in outreach?

Conversation Project leaders who travel more than one hundred miles are provided one night of lodging. Will the leader(s) travel more than one hundred miles from their hometown and are you able to cover lodging? Your organization will be responsible for set-up, outreach, and production of these virtual conversations on Zoom Meeting or a similar platform that allows small group breakout rooms. Additionally, someone from your organization will need to support the Conversation Project leader with technical needs like breakout rooms and screen sharing. Please choose one of the following:

My organization has a Zoom Meeting account or similar platform. I would like to use an Oregon Humanities Zoom account to host this conversation.

Please read and agree to the following, on behalf of your organization, before submitting your application.

If the event is in person and the conversation facilitator travels more than one hundred miles one way, we will provide one night of commercial lodging, unless we requested help from Oregon Humanities for lodging.

If the event is virtual, our organization will help the facilitator with any technological needs, including breakout rooms and screen sharing.

These conversations are for between seven and twenty-five people, and we are responsible for promoting the event to our community or convening a group of people.

Someone from our organization will attend the event to welcome participants and introduce Oregon Humanities and the conversation facilitator.

After the event we will submit attendee information (name, email, and zip code), our host evaluation, and payment for the program to Oregon Humanities, and email the Oregon Humanities' event evaluation to participants.
