Learning Outcome: Participants will be able to apply current standards of care in Emergency Nursing to selected situations, in accordance with the BCEN standards of care for emergency nursing.
Program Objectives: Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Describe the techniques for preparing for the certification exam in emergency nursing.
- Recognize the legal, ethical, and professional responsibilities of the Emergency Room Nurse.
- Describe the pathophysiologic basis of respiratory disorders including nursing assessment, intervention, and evaluation of effectiveness of emergency nursing care.
- Discuss the pathophysiologic basis of neurologic disorders including nursing assessment, intervention, and evaluation of effectiveness of emergency nursing care.
- Discuss the pathophysiologic basis of OB‐GYN disorders including nursing assessment, intervention, and evaluation of effectiveness of emergency nursing care.
- Discuss the pathophysiologic basis of Cardiac disorders including nursing assessment, intervention, and evaluation of effectiveness of emergency nursing care.
- Discuss the pathophysiologic basis of gastrointestinal disorders including nursing assessment, intervention, and evaluation of effectiveness of emergency nursing care.
- Recognize the implications of nursing care as it relates to Trauma Nursing in the emergency room setting.
- Discuss the implications of nursing care as it relates to Medical Emergencies in the emergency room setting.
- Discuss the implications of nursing care as it relates to Musculoskeletal Emergencies in the emergency room setting.
- Discuss the implications of nursing care as it relates to Genitourinary Emergencies in the emergency room setting.
- Discuss the implications of nursing care as it relates to Pediatric Emergencies in the emergency room setting.
- Recognize the implications of nursing care as it relates to Psychiatric and Lifestyle Emergencies in the emergency room setting.
