Explore the intricate world of robotics and coding
Students will enter the world of robotics and coding. Participants learn through doing, experiencing computer languages Python, Javascript and block-based coding programs. Upon completion, students will also have the opportunity to join the newly formed SoLa Robotics Team! This class is available to Middle School students only. Two cohorts of 20 will be selected. Learn how to build video games from start to finish
What kind of video games do you love to play? Learn the essentials of game design, developing stories, characters, environmental design, gameplay, and sound. Computer skills will include animation, 3-D modeling, professional industry-grade gaming software and more. Course Times Thursdays 4-6:00PM (Middle School) and 6:10-7:40PM (High School).
VR Odyssey
Defy reality by creating a virtual world
Overview: Explore your own digital world utilizing science, engineering, space, travel and more! Create a neighborhood, city, and characters through virtual and augmented reality. This class is available to Middle School students only. Course Time: Tuesdays 4:00PM - 5:40PM.
Be the Boss
Start a real company and make a real impact
The SoLa Entrepreneurship Program equips and empowers high school students to become entrepreneurial economic leaders. We know our community's youth are bursting with ideas but often only hear "no." With encouragement and support from SoLa Tech Center teachers, student teams create their very own companies that addresses a problem in their community, earning real revenues and profit. Students gain critical life and business skills that last a lifetime. This course is available to High School students only. Classes meet twice a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 6:00-7:30PM. Also, this course is 14 weeks and ends the week of May 2.
