Live Nation Next Gen: Become a future leader in live entertainment! Over 10 weeks, design and produce a music festival including marketing, ticketing, artist relations, production and more.

Winter 2022 SoLa Tech Center Courses

Graphic Galaxy

Bring your ideas to life with graphic design

Learn the fundamentals of graphic design with industry experts and bring your ideas and visions to life! Students will learn on state-of-the-art iMac computers with Photoshop and InDesign. Course Time: Mondays 4:00PM - 5:40PM (Middle School) and 6:00-7:40PM (High School)

Robo-Code

Explore the intricate world of robotics and coding

Students will enter the world of robotics and coding. Participants learn through doing, experiencing computer languages Python, Javascript and block-based coding programs. Upon completion, students will also have the opportunity to join the newly formed SoLa Robotics Team! This class is available to Middle School students only. Two cohorts of 20 will be selected. Time: Monday or Wednesday 4:00PM - 5:30PM

Ready Player One

Learn how to build video games from start to finish

What kind of video games do you love to play? Learn the essentials of game design, developing stories, characters, environmental design, gameplay, and sound. Computer skills will include animation, 3-D modeling, professional industry-grade gaming software and more. Course Times Thursdays 4-6:00PM (Middle School) and 6:10-7:40PM (High School).

VR Odyssey

Defy reality by creating a virtual world

Overview: Explore your own digital world utilizing science, engineering, space, travel and more! Create a neighborhood, city, and characters through virtual and augmented reality. This class is available to Middle School students only. Course Time: Tuesdays 4:00PM - 5:40PM.

Be the Boss

Start a real company and make a real impact

The SoLa Entrepreneurship Program equips and empowers high school students to become entrepreneurial economic leaders. We know our community's youth are bursting with ideas but often only hear "no." With encouragement and support from SoLa Tech Center teachers, student teams create their very own companies that addresses a problem in their community, earning real revenues and profit. Students gain critical life and business skills that last a lifetime. This course is available to High School students only. Classes meet twice a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 6:00-7:30PM. Also, this course is 14 weeks and ends the week of May 2.

Tech Catalyst

Learn what it takes to be a cutting-edge tech leader

Students will enter a holistic technology education experience through exposure to the foundational concepts of computer science, software development, coding, entrepreneurship, and leadership development. This class is available for Middle School students only. Classes take place Wednesdays from 4:00-6:00PM.

Technovation Girls

Develop a mobile app to solve real-world problems

Technovation Girls program equips young women to become tech entrepreneurs and leaders. With the support of volunteer mentors and parents, girls work in teams to code mobile apps that address real-world problems. This program is available for High School girls only. Classes meet Wednesdays from 4:30-6:00PM.

Destination Animation

Take your drawings to the big screen

Overview: Do you love drawing, animation and characters? Discover animation software to create your own stories and characters! Then build your own website to showcase your work. Course Time: Tuesdays 4:00PM - 5:40PM (Middle School) and 6:00-7:40PM (High School).

SoLa Esports

Do you love games like League of legends, Valorant, or Fortnite? Have you always wanted to get paid to game? You can sign up now to be on one of SoLa's first Esports teams and flex your gaming muscles! SoLa is seeking skilled middle school and high school players to compete in League of Legends and Valorant! Players will have access to high-powered PC’s, game swag and will have the opportunity to meet and get training tips from champion gamers.

Legit Level Up

Get professionally certified by Google and Facebook

The SoLa Technology and Entrepreneurship Center is partnering with Los Angeles County to offer five official Google professional certificates and one Facebook progressional certificate. These self-directed classes will be offered as part of a professional development cohort, featuring in-person collaboration and learning time and an instructor to help students navigate the courses. The course usually takes roughly six months to complete and is a great goal for the first half of 2022! Classes are available for High School students only. Time: Mondays from 6:00PM-7:30PM.
