Telephone Recovery Support Volunteer Training

What is Telephone Recovery Support?
Minnesota Recovery Connection's Telephone Recovery Support program is a peer-to-peer support service that allows recovering people a way to give back, strengthen their own recovery, and support others who are seeking recovery from substance use disorders. Through this program, trained MRC volunteers call individuals seeking recovery who have requested this service. Volunteers ask how participants' recovery is progressing, connect them to resources, listen, and offer support.

Telephone Recovery Support volunteer peers need the following:

  1. Six months or longer of recovery experience if in recovery, or recovery experience as a recovery ally (family, friend, partner of a person in recovery)

  2. The desire to support others in their recovery

  3. The willingness to honor all pathways of recovery, including harm reduction

  4. The ability to participate in and complete a four-hour training

  5. A commitment to volunteer at MRC’s offices for a minimum of two 3-hour shifts per month, for at least two months

  6. No violent or predatory convictions

If you need assistance registering, please contact MRC at 612-584-4158, ext 220 or volunteercoordinator@minnesotarecovery.org. Space is limited to a maximum of 10 training participants.
