Learning Outcome: Participants will be able to identify current standards of Heart Failure Nursing Practice and apply them to selected patient conditions.
Objectives:
- Discuss the component parts of the nursing assessment of a patient in impending heart failure.
- Identify the component parts and the nurse’s role in developing the plan of care for a patient
with suspected heart failure. - Discuss the component parts and the nurse’s role in implementing a plan of care
related to the pharmacologic treatment for a patient with suspected heart failure. - Discuss the component parts and the nurse’s role in implementing a plan of care
related to the non‐pharmacologic treatment for a patient with suspected heart
failure. - Discuss the appropriate focused screening components for the nurse to utilize with
heart failure patients. - Identify the nurse’s role in evaluation of the effectiveness of patient therapies in
patients with heart failure. - Describe professional issues related to nurses caring for patients with heart failure.
