In this engaging workshop, participants will explore the power of poetic forms to shape and express personal stories. Led by Janine, our talented neighbor from Urban Word NYC, this session delves into the pantoum, a poetic form known for its repeating lines. While poetic forms can sometimes feel frustrating—especially for those who embrace their rebellious creativity—this workshop invites writers to discover the freedom within structure. Focusing on repetition, self-talk, and recurring imagery influenced by the news or life experiences, participants will use the pantoum to craft poems that bring fresh meaning to thoughts worth repeating and lines they wish to rewrite. Through this process, attendees will uncover how poetic forms can empower storytelling, offering a new level of control while amplifying their most important messages. Teaching Artist: Janine Simon
