Candidate Information

We are seeking a highly talented, multi-diverse, cross-sector cohort of 24 senior workforce professionals who are interested in expanding their leadership capacity and ability to effect change at the systems level. We encourage change makers from all backgrounds to apply, including but not limited to: community-based organizations, government agencies, foundations, post-secondary and career and technical education institutions, unions, business associations, and public libraries.  

Ideal Applicants

  • Work for a New York City organization supporting workforce development in low-to-moderate income communities.
  • Serve in a senior leadership role.
  • Have at least five years of experience in the field of workforce development.
  • Have a passion and curiosity about developing new leadership skills germane to problem-solving in New York City.
  • Are interested in joining the Coro community and alumni network.

Schedule 

WSLP runs from June 2022 - March 2023. The schedule amounts to over 16 days of training including (1) program orientation, an off-site (3) day opening retreat, (5) weekday leadership sessions, (4) weekday strategy sessions, (3) system change project prep sessions, (2) optional evening sessions and Coro community events, (1) weekday presentation showcase and graduation. Due to the experiential nature of our training and the importance of the group in our work together, and commitment to attend all program sessions is preferred. 


Due to known or unexpected circumstances, we understand that participants may need to miss a session.  A total of 3 absences are possible with no more than 1 absence for a strategy session, no more than 1 absence for a leadership session, and no more than 1 absence for a system change project session.  Absences exceeding this could result in your withdrawal from the program.


This year, WSLP will return to meeting in person at various NYC locations. The program calendar can be found on our websiteFull participation in the off-site Opening Retreat from June 15-17 and the Showcase and Graduation on March 22 is required. 


Participants also commit to self organizing time outside of the program to work on their System Change Projects. Previous participants report spending approximately 30-50 additional hours over the course of the year meeting and connecting with their change project groups as well as conducting individual research. 


Covid-19 Safety Protocol

Per Coro's Covid-19 Safety Protocol, all staff and program participants are required to:

- be fully vaccinated with COVID-19 vaccine shots;
- wear a mask in public indoor settings, such as conference rooms, restrooms and hallways; and
- take a PCR or Rapid test prior to the program retreat.


Coro will continue to monitor any developments and reserves the right to adjust and change its policy as new data and CDC recommendations come available

Fee

Due to the generous support of our funders, there is no tuition for this program. A $100 materials fee is required upon acceptance.
