Indy Reads Event Submission Form

All requests must be submitted four weeks prior to the preferred event date. 






We will use our EventBrite account to register guests. We can provide cameras and do the live streaming for registered guests.   














you may choose to do any or all of the following:

- read excerpts from the book
- sign books
- have a book Q&A session
- socialize with your readers and fans

Be creative! Generate interest in the topic of your book!











Typically we sell visiting authors' works on a consignment basis. This means that you deliver copies of the book to us, which we then sell on your behalf. You can view our consignment information here. We usually do a 60/40 split— 60% of the sales will go to the author, and 40% will go to the store.

Please note: it is very rare that we are able to order copies of books for readings due to our limited purchasing budget. So consignment is generally the way forward.


Please understand that we can host events multiple times per week, and that event attendance is directly dependent on the amount of promotion you do. There is no built-in audience for your event at our bookstore; rather you must bring YOUR audience here.

Here are some things you can do to promote your event:
- utilize social media (create a Facebook event, tweet, etc.)
- activate your network of family, friends, and fans
- create a poster and or flyers promoting your event
- notify the press about your event

Here is what we will do to help you:
- re-post/re-tweet social media postings generated by you (if you tag us)
- include information provided by you on our public events calendar
- include your event throughout in-store signage 
- include your event in our own social media postings (please note that this may be somewhat limited due to our internal capacity)







You can view our calendar here (xxx) to help guide your date choices, though clear space on the calendar is not a guarantee of availability. Don't worry, we'll work with you if none of your chosen dates are available. 

Please schedule your event to occur during open hours. If you would like a different time of day, we can discuss if it is possible to staff.

(It is important that you list three distinct date/time combinations. We need different proposals to work with so that we can schedule around pre-existing events.)

  1. My event is open to the public. Anyone may attend, and shoppers may be present during the event.
  2. While the event will be free to attend, a donation to Indy Reads will be asked when they register for the event on EventBrite. 
  3. I understand that event attendance is directly dependent on my efforts to promote it. I will follow the plan that I outlined to promote my event.
  4. (For book events) I agree to the standard book consignment terms, or I agree to work out an alternative with bookstore staff at least 2 weeks in advance of event date.
  5. I understand that Indy Reads will accept event submissions at its discretion. Indy Reads has the right to cancel an event when it deems necessary. I, too, have the right to cancel an event.
Private Events
A private event not open to all members of the public requires that the store be closed (or it must be held outside of normal store hours), and there is a charge for the use of the space.
