Trauma and Healing in AA and NHPI Community Organizations
Event Description
The traumas of violence, poverty, theft of land, war, and racism deeply affect AA & NHPI communities everywhere. Recently, the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic crash has created new waves of trauma in our communities. Join us for this webinar to learn how community development nonprofits who work in these communities can be more trauma-informed and partner with residents of marginalized communities more effectively and authentically. We will discuss how we can get started on implementing trauma-informed care practices in our organizations by: Defining trauma and the need for trauma-informed care, specifically in the AA & NHPI communities Discussing some basic tools organizations can use to start to implement trauma-informed care Hearing from National CAPACD member organizations on how they navigate with trauma to promote healing and understanding with the communities they serve Khmer Girls in Action, Long Beach, CA (not yet confirmed) Raksha, Georgia KALO HCC, Oregon and Washington
