In July 2022, all VTS programs began utilizing a sliding scale for registration. 

We are confident that those who join us are committed to being part of a thoughtful community that is diverse, actively engaged in collective learning, and interested in finding new ways of supporting each other. 

We were inspired to use this pricing strategy by Embracing an Equity Sliding Scale.  

Please use the guide below to self-select your registration fee for this program.


Consider investing in the TIER 1 price if you:

  • are supporting children or have other dependents

  • have significant debt

  • have medical expenses not covered by insurance

  • are eligible for public assistance

  • have immigration-related expenses

  • are an elder with limited financial support

  • are an unpaid community organizer

  • are a returning citizen who has been denied work due to incarceration history

  • experience discrimination in hiring or pay level

  • are descended from enslaved people or Native American Indians


Consider investing in the TIER 2 price if you:

  • are single and/or without dependents

  • are able to repay your student loans, are in repayment or have paid off your student loans

  • have daily reliable transportation

  • are able to miss work either for sickness or leisure, and are still able to pay next month’s bills

  • travel when needed for an unexpected occasion like a family funeral or emergency


Consider investing in the TIER 3 price, if you:

  • own the home you live in

  • have investments, retirement accounts or inherited money

  • travel for recreation

  • have access to family money and resources in times of need

  • work part-time or are unemployed by choice, including unemployment due to full-time school in a degree-earning program

  • have a relatively high degree of earning power due to level of education (or gender and racial privilege, class background, etc.)

  • Program Fee must be paid in full at least 10 business days prior to the start date of the event in order to secure your spot in the event.

  • Cancellations must be submitted to Tatiana Sanguinette at tsanguinette@vtshome.org more than 10 business days prior to the start date of the course to receive a full refund less any processing services fees.

  • Any cancellation requests received 4 to 10 business days prior to the course date are not eligible for refund, but can be transferred to a future VTS training taking place within 12 months of the original training date.  Registration may be transferred one time within 12 month of the start date of the original course.

  • Cancellations made 3 or less business days prior to the training will result in loss of your full training fee.

  • Substitutions of attendees may be made at any time prior to workshop start date.

  • Please bear in mind that VTS occasionally must cancel a workshop due to low enrollment. We therefore recommend that you check with the workshop coordinator regarding the status of your workshop prior to making any non-refundable travel arrangements. All cancellations due to low enrollment will be determined no later than 2 weeks prior to the scheduled start of the workshop.

  • If VTS cancels or reschedules trainings due to weather, low enrollment, or unforeseen circumstances beyond the control of VTS, you are entitled to a full refund within one month of cancellation (but VTS is not responsible for travel arrangements, travel fees, or any expenses incurred by you as a result of such cancellation); or you may contact VTS to move your registration to a future event within 12 months of the original training date. If VTS cancels a training in which you are enrolled, you will be contacted at the email address you provided when registering.
