Opportunity Saint Paul Learning Community Event Virtual

Thursday May 26th 7pm - 8:30pm

Speaker: Dr. Sheldon Berkowitz &  Dr. Razaan Bryne -- Children's Minnesota

How are the Children? Impacts to children's wellbeing and mental health in the time of COVID-19.

Schools, daycares, and the lives of caregivers have been repeatedly upended since the first COVID lockdowns began. A high school student was the one who filmed the brutal killing of George Floyd. While numerous studies project possible future impacts to our children’s development in the wake of the past two years, what have those who have been meeting, treating, and supporting the medical needs of children learned about how the children are doing in this unprecedented time?

Join Interfaith Action of Greater St. Paul as we host a panel discussion with two leaders in pediatric care in the Twin Cities: Dr. Razaan Byrne, Pediatric Physician at Children’s Minnesota, and Dr. Sheldon Berkowitz, current President of the Minnesota Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr. Razaan Byrne is a pediatrics specialist and has over 5 years of experience in the medical field. She graduated from the University of Minnesota Medical School in 2014. She has been on the pediatrics team at Children’s Minnesota since 2014.

Dr. Sheldon Berkowitz has been a pediatrician for 38 years, the last 21 at Children's Minnesota. He is now retired from his clinical practice of general pediatrics having worked in urban settings with large number of immigrant patients for most of his career. He is currently the President of the Minnesota Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
