Who: NYC students (ages 14-21), are welcome to apply for this 4-week intensive media training program. What: NYC youth crew up for an interactive, hands-on learning experience in filmmaking. As challenging as it is fun, participants take their ideas on a journey from imagination to creation. Pre-production to post-production, students build skills in pitching, camera operation, interviewing, editing, and media literacy. The culminating screening features films in the genres of documentary, narrative, animation, and experimental. When: July 5th - July 29th, 2022 | days TBD 11am - 5pm. We are excited about the prospect of you joining our filmmaker cohort and want to get to know you! We are looking for detailed and honest self-reflection.

Written responses must be at least 300 words and video samples, while optional, must be shot and edited by you.

Personal Statement: Who are you? What makes you, you? What qualities do you bring to the program? Feel free to make it personal. You may choose either a written response (minimum 300 words) or video response for this question. OPTION 2 - Walk a Mile In Someone's Shoes

Think about one challenge facing you and/or your community in New York City. Pitch us your vision for a documentary film you can create based on this challenge. In your pitch be sure to include at least person you will interview for the film and the questions you will ask them. Also consider what solutions you would you offer to make a difference. Please be sure to check your word count before submission. Incomplete responses will not be considered. (Minimum 300 words.)

OPTION 3 - The Immersive Storyteller

As a filmmaker, you will be tasked with engaging your audience. As you bring them into the world you create, they become immersed into your characters' experiences. Tell a short story using only sensory detail (the five senses). This story can be based on real-life personal experiences or totally made up. Please be sure to check your word count before submission. Incomplete responses will not be considered. (Minimum 300 words.)
