Construction Core Training Application

This training gives participants the basic skills needed to continue education in any construction or maintenance craft area of choice. Trainees receive the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Construction Core certification upon successful completion of the course. The course covers the following:
  • Basic Safety
  • Hand Tools
  • Power Tools
  • Construction Drawings
  • Construction Math
  • Basic Rigging
  • Materials Handling
Participants that successfully complete the NCCER Construction Core certification are eligible to continue into the Industrial Maintenance Electricals and Instrumentation Technical Level 1 course. This course is OPTIONAL for trainees that seek to specialize in industrial maintenance. The course is part one of a four level training that teaches trainees how to repair and maintain electrical instruments and equipment as well as install and dismantle them. Trainees receive the NCCER Industrial Maintenance Electricals and Instrumentation Technician Level 1 certification upon successful completion of the course. The course covers the following:

  • Oxyfuel Cutting

  • Craft-Related Mathematics

  • Introduction to Test Instruments
  • Material Handling and Hand Rigging 
  • Mobile and Support Equipment 
  • Lubrication 
*No previous experience required. Must be a McLennan County resident 18+ with a GED or high school diploma to enroll.
