The mission of the IOCDF's DEIAC is to represent diverse populations, and to ensure that marginalized and underrepresented groups have an empowered voice in the international OCD community. We seek to educate the public about topics central to diverse OCD communities, increase community engagement, and facilitate access to quality culturally-responsive, evidence-based care. We embrace all forms of diversity and provide a welcoming forum to exchange ideas and promote change. Our members are allied with and actively involved in activities consistent with these DEI initiatives.
Individuals will be asked to fill out an application when being considered for the IOCDF DEIAC. A call for applications will happen on a bi-annual basis (i.e. every 2 years) and is open to anyone who wants to apply. However, IOCDF can offer to fast track individuals into the program at their discretion and as permissible by membership number limits in DEIAC bylaws. "Fast-tracking" individuals to the DEIAC may be offered if an individual fills a specific niche population or focus area that is currently lacking or underrepresented in the DEIAC. However, these individuals are still required to fill out the application and must receive a majority vote at the next available Nominating Committee meeting.
DEIAC membership is limited to 30 members-at-large whose continued membership is contingent on criteria laid out in the signed agreement and according to the Application Review Rubric at any given time. If all spots are filled, a call for applications will be put on pause until there is availability. IOCDF has the right to deny any application that does not fit within the organization’s mission or philosophy.
Applications will be reviewed by the DEIAC Nominating Committee, an odd-numbered body, who will vote on the applications. The applicants will be accepted into the DEIAC based on majority vote. Applicants who are not accepted into the program may reapply at the next call for applications. The IOCDF is dedicated to being transparent with all applicants and will promptly follow up with everyone who has applied after decisions have been made.
