Learning Outcome: Participants will be able to correctly identify appropriate nursing interventions for selected patient care situations in the operating room based on current standards of care.
Objectives:
- Develop skills to improve test taking strategies for the CNOR Exam.
- Identify key concepts in preoperative assessment and diagnosis.
- Identify effective communication strategies that will promote quality patient outcomes.
- Discuss expected outcomes and develop an individualized operating room nursing care plan.
- Recognize basic concepts regarding intraoperative skills and techniques.
- Discuss the role of an operating room nurse in maintaining regulatory compliance for patient safety as a nursing professional.
- Describe the responsibility of a nurse in creating and maintaining a sterile field.
- Describe the role of an operating room nurse in surgical emergencies, including care of the trauma patient requiring surgical intervention.
- Identify the role of an operating nurse in preventing postoperative complications.
- Discuss the importance of intraoperative safety.
