Community College or Trade School Scholarship Application

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
  1. The applicant must be enrolled in a California Technical/Trade School or California Community College. (Scholarship funds may be used for tuition, fees, books, materials and housing).
  2. The applicant must be enrolled in a building industry related curriculum.
  3. The applicant has achieved a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  4. The applicant must be a California resident having an objective of a future career within the California homebuilding industry.
SELECTION CRITERIA Applicants are evaluated on the following criteria:
  1. Financial need
  2. Career goals
  3. Academic achievement
  4. Extracurricular activities (Design Build, Skills USA, Community Service)
  5. Recommendations
OBLIGATION OF THE SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT
  1. To enroll and maintain a satisfactory GPA of 2.5 or higher at California Technical/Trade School or Community College during the academic year in which they received this scholarship.
  2. To pursue a course of study that will qualify the applicant for a professional career in the California homebuilding industry.
  3. To conduct oneself in a manner that exemplifies good character.
  4. To report to the Foundation annually of academic progress or employment status upon graduation.
APPLICATION PROCESS (ITEMS 2-6 MUST BE INCLUDED WITH APPLICATION SUBMISSION)
  1. Complete and return the attached application.
  2. Submit one letter of recommendation from a teacher within the last two years. Letter needs to include the teacher’s name, telephone number and email address.
  3. Applicants proof of registration for the California Technical/Trade School or Community College.
  4. Submit most recent high school transcript of applicant’s grades.
  5. If submitting application electronically, applicant must include an electronic photo of themselves in a JPG format @ leave 300 or higher DPI resolution.
AWARD INFORMATION
  1. The California Homebuilding Foundation BITA scholarship award is $500-$2,500 per person subject to the number of scholarship recipients selected.
  2. Applications will be reviewed, and finalists selected by the CHF Scholarship Committee.
  3. Scholarship checks will be made payable to the recipient’s Technical/Trade School or Community College and mailed directly to the institution.
