Participants
will be able to identify the steps needed to develop an action plan to organize
around gaining safer working conditions related to infectious disease risk.
Objectives:- Describe methods to
assess infectious disease exposure risk in a healthcare facility including data
collection and assessment.
- Identify how to
determine if your employer is engaging in effective workplace infection
controls based on the modes of transmission.
- Identify actions to be
undertaken by nurses to address employer failures to provide a workplace
environment free of infectious disease hazards.
- Describe
steps needed to develop an action plan to organize nurses around health and
safety issues including:
a)
Gathering
information related to hazardous working conditions
b)
Identifying
nurses for health and safety activity
c)
Setting
health and safety goals related to decreasing infectious disease risk
d)
Mobilizing
nurses to take joint action to attain identified safety goals
