Family Self Sufficiency (FSS) Interest Form 

The Family Self-Sufficiency Program (FSS) is a 5-year voluntary program helping eligible families with Section 8 vouchers increase their earnings and build assets. The
program has both a financial incentive in the form of an escrow savings account managed by Metro Housing|Boston, as well as a coaching component designed to help residents access services and overcome barriers on the way to achieving their goals.  All FSS participants will work with a Coach from One Family who will support their education, career, and personal finance goals.  

To be eligible for this program, you must:
     - Have a section 8 Voucher with Metro Housing/Boston.
     - Be in good standing and up-to-date and current with annual recertification.
     - Be 18 years of age or older.
     - Be willing to work with a coach four times a year over a 5 year period to set and reach goals.
     -Be willing and able to work

Savings Match Homeownership Program (SMHP)

The FSS Savings Match Homeownership program (SMHP) is a 2 - 5 year program for FSS participants who want to become homeowners.

It is designed to help participants reach their homeownership goals by helping you save money to buy your home and connecting you with workshops, lenders and experts in the home buying and home owning process. For every $1 you save, you will be matched $3, up to $12,000!

To be eligible for the Savings Match Homeownership (SMHP) program, you must:
  • Be 18 years or older and part of the household
  • Be enrolled in the FSS program AND be in good standing
  • Have household income of at least $47,000
  • Plan to buy a home in the next 2-7 years
  • Agree to open a new bank account and share your deposit statements bi-monthly so we can match your savings
  • Agree to attend all required seminars and meet program requirements
