Transfer Scholarship

Qualifying Information

Cumulative GPA based on a 4.0 scale on your most recent official transcript from CSN. Round down to the nearest tenth, for example if you have a 2.99 select "2.9." 
*If you are a first year student entering CSN in Fall 2023 please use your High School GPA.
Residency:
  • *Nevada Resident (lived in NV for a minimum of 12 months before the beginning of the semester; catalog language)
  • Out of State (lived in NV less than 12 months before the beginning of the semester)
  • International - F-1 Visa student
Qualifying for Nevada Residency

Residency regulations have been established by the Board of Regents of the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE). Generally, the categories listed below qualify for Nevada resident status. For specific definitions and supporting documentations, please refer to the Board of Regents Handbook, Title 4, Chapter 15, Sections 1 - 4.
  1.  Nevada high school graduate.
  2.  Established residency at another NSHE institution- UNLV, UNR, NSC, or GBC.
  3.  Member of the U.S. Armed Forces on active duty in the state of Nevada or his/her qualified legal dependent
  4.  Full-time licensed personnel employed by a public school district in Nevada or his/her qualified legal dependent.
  5.  Teacher currently employed full-time in Nevada or his/her qualified legal dependent.
  6.  Professional or classified employee of NSHE employed at least half-time or his/her qualified legal dependent.
  7.  Relocation for employment to the state of Nevada (applies to qualified legal dependent).
  8.  Member of a Native American tribe currently residing on tribal land located within Nevada.
  9.  A student with continuous physical presence in the state of Nevada for at least 12 months before the beginning of the semester.







FT is 12 credits or more and PT is 11 credits or less.

Listed below are the scholarships you are eligible for based on the criteria you provided.  You can choose to apply for multiple scholarships at this time.  Each scholarship application will require an essay response and some might require additional attachments such as a transcript or letters of recommendation. 

Please read about each scholarship and select "yes" or "no" for each response.
If you save your progress along the way you can select "yes" and come back later to complete the requirements if needed.
Based on the criteria you have provided, you are not eligible for the scholarships offered at this time.  The CSN Foundation is always working to add more opportunities for our students, so be sure to visit us next year.

We encourage you to research national scholarship opportunities made available through the College Scholarships portal. The site has a search function that allows you to look quickly based on your location, school, degree and major. It is common for millions of dollars in scholarships to go unclaimed because of a lack of applications. Make the time to go through the website, apply for all eligible scholarships and equally important – be sure to apply for FAFSA or the CSN Alternative Scholarship.

Cardenas Market Scholarship - ($2,500 Award)
The Cardenas Markets Foundation scholarship supports students who have a relentless desire to achieve their dreams for a higher education and express a commitment to serve their community.
Other Requirements:
  • Scholarship will be awarded to students with demonstrated studies or knowledge of Latinx/Hispanic culture, and/or history, that can be illustrated through submitted written materials as part of the application process.
  • This scholarship will require applicants to attach 2 letters of recommendation from CSN Faculty/Staff.

CSN Foundation Student Success Scholarship - ($2,500 Award)
In support of CSNs vision of student success, the CSN Foundation has created these scholarships to support students in their education journey.
Other Requirements:
  • Scholarship will be awarded to students with demonstrated studies or knowledge or Latinx/Hispanic or Black/African American culture, and/or history, that can be illustrated through submitted written materials as part of the application process. 

Devon Stone Scholarship - ($2,500 Award)
This scholarship is in memory of Devon Stone, a member of the College of Southern Nevada's GEAR UP & Academic Advising. A dedicated community advocate whose passion for wellness inspired and motivated all who had a chance to work with him.  

Grainger Tools for Tomorrow Scholarship - ($2,000 Award)
The Grainger Tools for Tomorrow Scholarship Program has partnered with education and workforce development to positively impact future generations of the skilled trades, public safety and supply chain professionals.
Other Requirements:

  • This scholarship will require applicants to attach the following: 1 letter of recommendation from a professor, teacher, or advisor.

  • This scholarship will require applicants to attach the following: a list of clubs, activities, accomplishments, leadership roles held, and years involved, including those relating to their field of study.


Hites Family MGM Mirage Scholarship - ($8,000 Award)
This endowed scholarship was established by the Hites Family and MGM Mirage to support CSN students pursuing a four-year degree at another NSHE institution. This $8,000 scholarship per student is paid over four semesters to complete their bachelor’s degree
Other Requirements:
  • This scholarship will require applicants to attach an updated transcript (Unofficial transcripts are available online.)
  • Applicants must have accumulated a minimum of 50 semester hours at the time of transferring to a baccalaureate-degree granting institution- must provide Verification of enrollment at time of application.  
  • Scholarship will be distributed when the recipient has been accepted and enrolled as a full-time student in one of the NSHE institutions (Great Basin College, Nevada State College, University of Nevada, Las Vegas, University of Nevada, Reno) and pursuing their baccalaureate degree.
  • During the first and second years of the scholarship award, the student must be classified as a full-time student and must maintain that status throughout the semester to be eligible for renewal.
  • Students must maintain a 2.75 grade point average during the first semester of the first year and a 3.00 cumulative grade point average during each of the following semesters. 

John P. Keller Memorial Scholarship - ($2,500 Award)
John P. Keller (June 1974 - Feb 2022) was a commended US Army medic, and turned his love of helping the sick and injured into two degrees from CSN, graduating from the Vet Tech program, and then returning to become a Registered Nurse.  In all of his positions he was recognized for his calmness during a crisis, sense of duty, kindness to patients, and his professionalism. His hobbies included hiking, growing exotic plants, and photography.  He left money to his family and loved ones with the instruction to "do good" with it. We think he'd agree that helping people open doors in life through education is doing good with his legacy.
Other Requirements:

  • Must be in good academic standing.

  • Scholarship award will be gifted during the second year of either program.
  • Cannot be on academic or financial probation. 

Ralph & Betty Engelstad SHS Limited Entry Program Scholarship - ($2,000 Award)
The Ralph & Betty Engelstad School of Health Sciences Limited Entry Scholarship is awarded to students in the limited entry program who demonstrates excellence in academics, and an ability to overcome traditional barriers to learning.

Other Requirements:

  • This scholarship will require applicants to attach a record of their volunteer hours.


Robert E. Clark Photography Scholarship - ($500 Award)
The Clark family created this scholarship to benefit undergraduates enrolled in the CSN's Photography program.
Other Requirements:
  • Student must be a CSN Photography major; and, have taken at least two (2) Photography courses at CSN.

Social Justice Scholarship - ($2,500 Award)
The College of Southern Nevada and the CSN Foundation are honoring those that have been impacted by social injustice, by awarding scholarships to degree seeking students enrolled in Social & Behavioral Programs.

Vegas Chamber Prospectors Vocational Heroes Scholarship - ($2,500 Award)
The Vegas Chamber Prospectors is a volunteer council of the Vegas Chamber. They have created this scholarship to support an employee of a Vegas Chamber business seeking to complete a technical certification in their field of employment and/or advance their education and achieve an Associate's Degree.
Other Requirements:
  • Scholarship will be awarded to an employee of a Vegas Chamber business seeking to complete a technical certificate in their field of employment and or advance their education and achieve as Associates. Must show proof.

Zavala Harris Charitable Fund Engineering Technology Scholarship - ($7,500 Award)
This scholarship was created to support two students pursuing their UAS AAS degree.

Scholarship Essay Portion - Required 
Before You Start
  • When writing your essay prompt response, it is our recommendation that you draft your responses using your preferred word processing software, such as Microsoft Word, Google Docs, or Appleworks, to assist in formatting and editing.  Then copy and paste your responses in the corresponding space upon completion.  

  • The Centers for Academic Success (CAS) provides quality DROP-IN academic assistance to all students enrolled in courses at CSN. If interested, CAS may be able to provide academic support when writing your essay response(s).  Check out their website for more information https://www.csn.edu/centers-academic-success.

  • If you are requesting a letter of recommendation, be sure to reach out to someone who can speak to your educational commitments.  This might include a professor, supervisor, coach or advisor.  Always be sure to give your requestor ample time to write your letter and return it in pdf. format.
