World Affairs Council Jacksonville: 2023-2024 Board Fellows Application

The Board Fellows Program offers two exceptional area undergraduate students the opportunity to serve as ex-officio, non-voting members on the World Affairs Council of Jacksonville’s Board of Directors for a one-year term (August through June). 

Board Fellows work closely with the Board of Directors and Council staff, attend board meetings and Council programs, serve on committees, and gain firsthand experience in community service and stewardship. 

Additionally, Board Fellows are provided professional networking opportunities with Jacksonville’s business and philanthropic leaders, and special access to premier Council offerings.
Eligibility Requirements
  •  GPA of 3.0 (or higher)
  • Full-time Undergraduate Student

Expectations of Board Fellows
  • Serve a one-year term: August through June
  • Attend a minimum of three board meetings a year and join a committee
  • Attend Council programs (e.g. Global Issues Evenings, Global Business luncheons, Annual Member Celebration)
  • Have access to reliable transportation/reliable internet to join virtual meetings
  • Invite peers to attend/join Council offerings
  • Provide a reflective learning statement/assessment at the end of the term
Scheduling Information

The Board Fellows Program is a significant commitment for two semesters. Therefore, applicants need to consider class (and work) schedules before making a commitment.

Key Council meetings and programs are scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays:

Council Board Meetings (attendance expected) are held on a Thursday in October, January, and April (4:00-6:00 PM)

Global Issues Evenings (attendance expected) are held once a month on a Tuesday (7:00-8:30 PM)

The Annual Member Celebration (attendance optional) will be scheduled in May 2024
