Submission Guidelines


To be considered eligible, submissions must include: 

-       A film of any genre or topic, provided that the film either participated in any of the CUNY TV partner film festivals, or was produced by a CUNY student, alumni, faculty, or staff member that is 5 or more minutes in length.

-       A film for which you have the legal rights to all material in the film. 

-       A link to a streaming screener


Selected filmmakers must sign a License Agreement describing, among other things, the length of the license and the number of broadcast repeats.  See Template: Licensing Agreement.

CUNY TV will not offer compensation for the licensing and airing of the films.

Selected films will air on CUNY TV broadcast channel 25.3 and on cable channels Spectrum/Optimum 75, RCN 77, and Verizon FiOS 30.

Sorry, but at this moment we are only accepting films longer than 5 minutes total. If your film is ANIMATED, you may disregard this requirement.

FCC Regulations
CUNY TV abides by FCC regulations relating to non-commercial, educational TV stations. Films must comply with those regulations with respect to content and information, and CUNY TV will reject films that do not. Please review the FCC Regulations and Best Practices for Profanity Censorship.

Given your film has content that must be censored in order to abide by FCC Regulation Guidelines, you will be asked to censor this content. This can include but is not limited to: bleeping out offensive language, blurring obscene imagery or non-artistic nudity, etc.

The film complies with FCC regulations. To the best of my knowledge, all statements on this form are true. I understand that CUNY TV and its affiliates may use my film and/or submission materials in any and all press, online publicity, and promotional materials for the CUNY Film Festivals Initiative. By submitting, I acknowledge that my film will be part of a special broadcast of the CUNY Film Festivals Initiative. I understand that my film and submission materials will not be returned. I agree to hold CUNY TV and its staff harmless from any claims of liability resulting from my entry.
