The Speaking in First Draft podcast is an interview series about the works-in-progress by Girls Write Now mentors, mentees, teaching artists, alumni, and staff members. The interviews will be featured on the Girls Write Now site as well as in our weekly newsletter, the Monday Memo, which goes out to 16,000+ subscribers. The series will consist of audio interviews in which the interviewee will share a bit of a piece that they are currently working on and talk about their vision for the work, as well as their writing and experience at Girls Write Now more generally. Interviewees can also bring in an excerpt of a finished piece along with an excerpt of their first draft and talk about the piece's evolution. Interviews should be 15 minutes max.

Our goal with this project is to connect members of the Girls Write Now community and to show the messy, fun part of writing that happens well before publication. If you have any questions, please reach out to Vahni Kurra on Slack or at vkurra@girlswritenow.org. We can't wait to see what you create!
