PREFACE
On behalf of Music for All,
congratulations on being selected as an Honor Ensemble member at the Music for
All National Festival! Because of your focus on musical excellence, you have
the privilege of representing your family, school, community, and state at the
national level.
At Music for All, it is our mission to
‘create, provide, and expand positively life-changing experiences through music
for all.’ As such, it is our expectation that all Honor Ensemble members adhere
to this Code of Conduct, demonstrating your highest morals, musical integrity, and citizenship. All Honor Ensemble members will be held to the highest
professional standards at all times.
The below expectations have been
established to ensure all Honor Ensemble members have a safe and enjoyable
experience while participating with Music for All Honor Ensembles.
EXPECTATIONS
1.
Honor Ensemble members are expected to attend all
rehearsals, social events, and performances listed in their schedule. In the
event of illness, notify a chaperone. To maximize rehearsal times and ensure
on-time travel, members are expected to be at least five minutes early to all
scheduled rehearsals and events. Reference your provided schedule and listen
closely to chaperone announcements concerning any changes to the schedule. You
are responsible for your punctuality.
2.
Attire for Honor Ensemble members should reflect the
highest levels of professionalism. Please select appropriate business
casual clothing to wear for all rehearsals and social functions. Members
wearing questionable attire will be asked to change into clothing that
represents the professional status of the festival. All members are expected to
be well-groomed and practice appropriate hygiene throughout the festival.
3.
Concert attire is considered your professional
uniform for the festival. While in concert attire you represent yourself, your
ensemble, and all other Honor Ensemble members. Please stay in full concert
attire (proper shoes, shirts tucked in, etc.) while in concert attire.
Exceptions will be made for members assisting with the movement of
equipment.
4.
The possession, use, or distribution of alcohol,
tobacco products (including vape devices), illegal drugs or mind-altering
substances is prohibited at all times. Sharing or distributing prescription
medications is prohibited. Law enforcement will be notified for all illegal
activity.
5.
All prescription medications should be documented on
the above medical form. Medication should be sent in its original prescription
bottle or original over-the-counter packaging. Members should only bring the
needed quantity of medication for the duration of the festival. Members
prescribed an Epi-pen or inhaler should keep such medication on their person at
all times.
6.
Unless accompanied by an official Music for All
chaperone or Music for All employee, Honor Ensemble members should refrain from
entering the hotel room or vehicle of anyone not associated with Music for All.
This includes taxis, Uber, Lyft or other transportation, public or private.
7.
Honor Ensemble members are expected to be in the
supervision of Music for All at all times. Honor Ensemble members are
permitted to visit with family or friends during meal breaks or social events
with permission from their assigned chaperone. Permission will only be
granted if the request is made in writing or in person by the member’s
parent/guardian or the teacher of the member.
8.
Honor Ensemble
members are not permitted to use public or private ride-sharing bicycles,
scooters, or vehicles (i.e. Uber, Lime, etc.) during the festival.
9.
Hotel rooms should only be occupied by the assigned
members of the specific room. Do not allow strangers or newly met friends into
your room for any reason. Do not enter any hotel room except your own. Honor
Ensemble members may socialize with other members of the festival in lobbies
and other public areas. Always use your best judgment when interacting with new
people.
10. Honor
Ensemble members must understand that the hotel is being used by guests not
associated with Music for All or the festival. While in your room, the
hallways, and navigating the hotel, members are expected to be courteous of all
guests. Honor Ensemble members may only play their instrument in assigned music
rooms, not in their hotel room.
11. Honor
Ensemble members are required to be in their assigned hotel room for all room
checks. Any personal needs that require leaving your hotel room after room
check must be arranged with a chaperone. Except for an emergency alarm (i.e.
fire alarm), members may not leave their room for any reason after evening room
check. Members must stay in their room until the morning departure time, to
report to breakfast, as discussed with their assigned chaperone.
12. Honor
Ensemble members may not order food delivery to the hotel or hotel room for any
reason without permission of a lead ensemble chaperone or Music for All
staff. All meals and snacks are provided for Honor Ensemble members
throughout the duration of the festival. Members arriving early or departing
late will be given specific instructions for obtaining food before and/or after
the scheduled festival.
13. Honor
Ensemble members are expected to use appropriate language at all times. Please
refrain from the use of profanity during the festival.
14. Honor
Ensemble members are responsible for their personal equipment and items at all
times. Members are expected to have a working instrument, concert attire, and
all supplies needed to perform on their instrument including, but not limited
to, mutes, extra reeds, valve oil, rosen, chalk stops, etc.
15. Honor Ensemble
members are expected to keep their hotel room clean and orderly. Any damage to
your hotel room is the responsibility of the member and their family. If
necessary, charges will be assessed after checkout.
16. Members
should not order movies or food from room service to their room. Any incurred
charges will be the responsibility of the member and their family.
17. Music for
All, its chaperones, and its employees are not responsible for lost, stolen, or
damaged personal items. It is recommended that personal instruments are covered
on the family’s homeowners or renters’ insurance plan.
18. Throughout
the festival, members may be requested to assist with moving equipment and
acting as stage hands. As a professional member of the ensemble, please assist
when requested.
19. Honor
Ensemble members are expected to remain adaptable throughout the festival.
There may be adjustments to the schedule or a change in plans. As professional
members of the Honor Ensembles, please be understanding and positive during
adjustments.
20. Throughout
the festival, Honor Ensemble members may interact with other groups or
individuals outside Music for All’s direct authority who may be unsupervised
and/or engaging in behavior that violates the Code of Conduct for Honor
Ensemble members. Honor Ensemble members should uphold the expectations of
integrity and professionalism as defined in this Code of Conduct.
