Hadar's Shatz Fellowship

The Hadar Shatz Fellowship is an 8 month program for shelihei tzibbur (prayer leaders) to hone their skills, deepen their practice, and elevate their impact in their prayer communities - carrying the sacred responsibility of serving as messengers from and to their communities. Over the course of 8 months, fellows will convene regularly online with Rabbi Deborah Sacks Mintz and guest faculty for a deep dive into the art of cultivating empowered communities of tefilah and song through skill-building, text study, and musical exploration. Alongside these peer-driven cohort sessions and hevruta learning opportunities, fellows will receive 1:1 mentoring from Hadar faculty and facilitators. The fellows will also gather in-person for focused time together at Hadar’s Rising Song Intensive in NYC in December 2023.

Applications will be accepted through June 12th, 2023

In the spirit of this fellowship being designed for shelichei tzibbur - lit translated as messengers of the community - we require a letter of recommendation from a member of the prayer community you serve. This could be a rabbi, cantor, educator, or layleader - anyone who can speak to your potential participation in a program designed to bring leadership skills back into the community you serve through tefila. Please submit the information for your reference below, they will receive a form through which they can submit their letter of reference.

This fellowship does not have a program fee and includes registration for Hadar’s Rising Song Intensive in December in person at no cost. Transportation to and housing during the duration of the intensive are at the fellows’ expense.

If the cost of travel or housing for the intensive is a barrier to participation, you will have the opportunity to explore financial aid for those expected fees with our team once accepted into the fellowship.
