CODE OF CONDUCT

1            Introduction

We want everyone taking part in Tottenham Hotspur Foundation activities to enjoy themselves, be safe, and feel welcome. 


All staff are always expected to deliver high-quality and engaging sessions where we:

Place the well-being, safety, and enjoyment of each participant first

Creating an environment that is free of fear and harassment.

Develop professional relationships with participants based on mutual trust and respect.

Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with participants, parents, and other staff members (including the use of phone, email, and social media channels).

Display high standards in the use of language, manner, punctuality, preparation, and presentation.

Ensure that the equipment and facilities meet safety standards and are appropriate to the level of the participants.

Always wear appropriate Tottenham Hotspur Foundation attire.

Ensure that the activities are appropriate for the age, maturity, experience, and ability of the participants.

Ensure that adult activities are conducted separately from children. 

Treat others equally in respect of gender, marital status, race, colour, disability, sexual identity, age, religious beliefs, or political opinion.

Participant Code of Conduct 

What we expect from participants and their parents/carers in attendance.


When taking part in Tottenham Hotspur Foundation activities, participants are required to

Always participate, to the best of their ability.

Respect other participants and staff by:

- Refraining from discriminatory language or behaviours that could be considered alienating, abusive or offensive. 

- Refraining from smoking or spitting during or around sessions.

- Not participate under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

- Listen to, and follow, the instruction, advice, and guidance of staff.

- Take good care of all equipment and facilities.

- Promote fair play/participation at all times.

- Wear appropriate clothing at all times. 

- Refrain from verbally or physically confrontational, aggressive, argumentative or abusive behaviours.  

- Refrain from behaving in such a manner as to make more vulnerable participants feel afraid, intimidated or in any way impact the sense of safety or wellbeing. 

Celebrate difference, by helping everyone to feel included and appreciated

Support and encourage other participants and staff

Stay safe and speak to a member of staff or another trusted adult if worried about anything or anyone. 

Remain under the supervision and guidance of Foundation staff at all times throughout the activity and inform staff if they need to step away from the group. 


Managing Code of Conduct Breaches


I know and accept that the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation can take the following steps if my behaviour and/or actions go against the above-stated Code of Conduct:


- Give me a verbal warning, which may be followed up in writing depending on the seriousness of my behaviour/actions 

- Carry out a comprehensive assessment to identify further risk to myself or others

- Immediately request or insist on my removal from the activity. 

- Contact and inform my parents (applicable to under 18 participants)

- Contact and inform the referral or partner agency 

- Contact and refer to other statutory agencies such as social services, police etc. where there are concerns for my safety or the safety of others.

- Impose a suspension or ban on my attendance at future Tottenham Hotspur Foundation activities; this is subject to the participant’s right of appeal. 


Please note: 

“Tottenham Hotspur Foundation reserves the right to refuse admittance to a potential participant to, or to ask an actual participant to leave a session due to their presence raising concern to other participants or potential ongoing disruption to the session, or which fetters Tottenham Hotspur Foundations ability to perform to its standards and expectations or for such other reason that can be objectively determined and confirmed by a Tottenham Hotspur Foundation senior manager”
