The Land of Hope and Fear
Israel’s Battle for Its Inner Soul
Tue / Oct 24 / 7:00 pm / 87th Street and Online
Isabel Kershner and Rabbi Zuckerman

At a critical juncture in Israel’s history, explore the wide-ranging portrait of the many faces of Israelis today, the many ways they are deeply divided on matters of politics, social issues, and ideology, and how these divisions are redefining what it means to be an Israeli. Through extensive interviews of Israelis across the spectrum, journalist and author Isabel Kershner examines the ways in which, 75 years after its founding, the country has both exceeded and fallen short of the ideals and expectations of its founders, and ultimately, at its core, what holds Israel together and the forces that threaten its future.
This event is presented in partnership with the Natan Fund and the Jewish Book Council

Isabel Kershner is the author of The Land of Hope and Fear: Israel’s Battle for Its Inner Soul, winner of the Spring 2023 Natan Notable Books Award at Jewish Book Council.
