Faculty Course Proposal Registration-Step 1


Please consult the Tufts in Talloires Information Sheet or specific information about teaching in Talloires and for general information about the Tufts in Talloires Program. The Tufts in Talloires program will run Tuesday, May 14 - Friday, June 28, 2024

Your proposed course MUST have a designated undergraduate course number so that students can get credit and fulfill requirements.  


Proposed courses that are not part of the regular undergraduate curriculum will NOT be considered.

 

If your proposed course is not part of the regular undergraduate curriculum, you must go through appropriate Department and/or Curriculum Committee approval process and then submit your approved course to the Registrar for inclusion in the curriculum – before you submit your proposal.  


In order for your course proposal to be complete, you must have approval from your department chair OR the chair of your sponsoring department. Once you submit your course proposal, your department chair will automatically be sent a Department Approval Form to review and approve your course proposal.  Course Proposals must be approved in order to be considered for the Tufts in Talloires 2024 program.  


Department approval must be received by Friday, October 18th, 2023

Please attach a preliminary draft of your proposed course syllabus.  Please note that the summer semester is only 6 weeks long. You should adapt your syllabus accordingly.

 

NOTE: For your syllabus, class days/dates do not have to be specified. Each class will meet 3 times a week (two 2.5 hours blocks and one 1.5 hour block) for a total of 18 class meetings over the 7-week period.  The first full day of classes for Tufts in Talloires 2024 will be Thursday, May 16. The final day of classes will be Tuesday, June 25.  Final exams will be held on Wednesday, June 26 and the program finishes Friday, June 28, 2024.


Please include the following in your draft syllabus for the proposed course:

1.    Your proposed reading list

2.    The basis for determining the final grade (i.e. exams, quizzes, presentations, papers)

3.    Your ideal class size (note: classes must have a minimum of 8 students to run in Talloires)

 

Course Proposals for Tufts in Talloires 2024 along with the Departmental Approval Form are due on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at 5pm.
