TRAVELLER ACCOMMODATION PROGRAMME

SMALL GRANTS SCHEME 2023

SSGT has a strategic goal of supporting the provision of culturally appropriate, secure, quality accommodation for Travellers by: strengthening organising and campaigning; improving awareness and attitude towards the need for change; strengthening solidarity and improving the policy and legislative framework for the provision of accommodation. This is a 10 year programme (2018-2027) funded by the Presentation Sisters and the Discalced Carmelites.

In 2023, we have established a small grant scheme offering funding of up to €6,000 to Traveller-led groups already working on the area of accommodation to develop innovative solutions to accelerate this change and to build greater momentum around existing accommodation campaigns.

SAFEGUARDING POLICY

SSGT has a mandatory policy of only supporting organisations we are confident have arrangements in place to ensure the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults proportionate and appropriate to the work the group is doing.

GOVERNANCE

Groups which receive funding from SSGT have to be practicing good governance. SSGT generally only funds registered charities.

SSGT assesses the governance of a charity when making a decision on funding. We will need your most recent Annual Report and Financial Statements. They may be a combined document or can be uploaded separately.

LIVING WAGE

SSGT is a Living Wage Employer and a Living Wage Friendly Funder and we have committed to encouraging and supporting those we fund to become Living Wage Employers.  The Living Wage is set each year by the Living Wage Technical Group (ROI) and the Living Wage Foundation (NI) and is enough to cover the basic cost of living. In 2021/22 the ROI Living Wage is €12.90 and £9.50 in the north - it can change each year. Being or working towards becoming a Living Wage Employer is not a condition of funding and we will consider your application on its merits but our policy is to advocate for fair wages in employment. We commit to paying the Living Wage for grant-funded posts unless there are particular reasons for this not to happen (these might include difficulties in maintaining differentials, and the impact on other posts within the grantee’s workforce).
