Program Participation Goals

Joining a nonprofit board is a serious commitment. Board members play a critical leadership role in determining the quality of programs and long-term sustainability of organizations. They are responsible for ensuring the organization has strong leadership, sound finances, effective fundraising, and high impact. Serving as a board member in the education sector is a personally and professionally rewarding opportunity to influence better outcomes for all children served by our partner organizations in our community.

Commitment

The Latino Board Fellowship is a leadership development program, which culminates with matching each Fellow to the board of an education organization where their skill-sets contribute in tangible, mission-driven ways. 


Fellows commit to: 

  • Attend all sessions (dates listed below)
  • Be open to learning how to be an effective board member and using tools and resources related to best governance practices
  • Participate actively in the program, collaborating with fellows around issues of good governance, diverse boards, improving board effectiveness, and making positive contributions to boards; and
  • Engage actively in the board matching and cultivation process.

The 2024 Latino Board Fellowship will be delivered as a hybrid program that incorporates both in-person and virtual sessions. Session dates: *Note that times are in Eastern Standard Time

  • Saturday, January 27, 2024  - In-Person 
  • Friday, February 16, 2024– Virtual (9:30-11:30AM EST)
  • Friday, March 22, 2024– Virtual (9:30-11:30AM EST)
  • Friday, April 26, 2024– Virtual (9:30-11:30AM EST)
  • Friday, May 17, 2024– Virtual (9:30-11:30AM EST)
  • Saturday, June 8, 2024– In-Person 

Program Costs

The cost of participation in the Latino Board Fellowship is $1,000. We recommend that Fellows contribute $250 and request their employer pay $750.
