About You

We plan to create new films and articles for Baby Buddy that will offer tips, help, and advice to support LGBTQ+ mums and non-binary parents on their journey to parenthood. These will be integrated alongside our existing support and information, which covers a huge range of topics related to pregnancy, birth, relationships and baby development and care.

 

We have identified a list of topics for these films and would love your feedback on our suggestions.

 

We are also looking for parent contributors who could share their experiences on camera. If you are interested, there is an opportunity to let us know further down this form.

Before giving your feedback, please complete this short set of questions which will help ensure that we are capturing a broad range of people and experiences with the content that we create.   






Film Topics: LGBTQ+ Out and Proud
We would like to make some films that celebrate all LGBTQ+ parent families' identity and journey
  • A Welcome film – a film that introduces the LGBTQ+ content in Baby Buddy and gives a flavour of what it will cover.
  • An LGBTQ+ Family story film – this film asks families to describe themselves and celebrate what’s great about being an LGBTQ+ family. 

Film Topics: Pregnancy
  • Top tips from parents and healthcare professionals for navigating maternity care – including responding to awkward or misinformed questions and confronting barriers to attending appointments together
  • A partner’s experience of pregnancy and birth – non-gestational parents share their thoughts and tips about how to be supportive whilst managing their own emotions about becoming a parent

Film Topics: Practicalities of Parenting
  • Deciding parenting roles – parents share their stories of how they balanced work and family and decided who does what. 
  • Feeding your baby - several films such as ways to feed your baby (including induced lactation, SNS feeding), responsive breast and chestfeeding (including feeding positions and helping your baby attach), and responsive bottle feeding.
  • Bonding – parents talk about how they like to spend time together one-to-one with their baby. 
  • Top 10 tips for finding inclusive childcare –parents and early years practitioners share their tips and advice about what to look for and what questions to ask. 


Film Topics: The Emotions of Parenting 
  • Looking after my mental health – parents and professionals discuss their feelings around becoming a parent and share tips about how to support their emotional wellbeing.
  • Surviving as a couple – parents and professionals explore how parenting can affect relationships and provide coping strategies 
  • A film exploring how relationships with family and close friends can change when becoming a parent 
  • Support and belonging – parents and professionals discuss the importance of finding a supportive and understanding community, and where to find one. 


Filming Opportunity

We are keen to capture real-life experiences in these films as we know how powerful and helpful this can be for other users of the Baby Buddy app. If you are interested in contributing and happy for us to capture your experiences for one or more of these films, please fill out your contact details below. To thank you for your participation and contribution to filming, Best Beginnings would like to offer each family a gift incentive of £25 per hour. You can opt to receive this as cash, a Love2Shop voucher, or donate it back to our charity. Most filming sessions take around 3 hours. We are also able to reimburse your reasonable travel costs.


Please note that filming opportunities are limited and dependent on a variety of factors, including number of people expressing an interest, geographical location, and the range of experiences.

We will take into consideration all the information given above and we may contact you to find out more about your experience and to discuss the filming process with you.
