Thank you for your interest in volunteering as a Mentor role in the NewBiz Entrepreneurship 101 program!
This free program will be available in three language-based cohorts: English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
We are currently seeking volunteer Mentors for the English language training classes starting January 2024.
Spanish and Portuguese cohorts will take place in the Spring 2024.
The English Language Cohort will run for 10 weeks and will provide basic resources and training for immigrants living in Somerville, MA who want to start their own business.
Upon acceptance as a Mentor, you will be paired with a student and you will be provided with a free laptop as our expression of thanks for serving as a mentor.
What will you do as a mentor?
1. Attend a short Mentor introduction/training meeting prior to the start of the -program and a mid-program check-in.
2. Check in weekly with your matched student via phone or video call.
3. Assist your student with preparation of an "elevator pitch" to prospective funders.
4. Complete an end of program survey about your experience as a mentor.

2. You will help strengthen bonds within the Somerville small business community.
3. You get to invest in the future landscape of small business in Somerville.
