  1. We are pleased to offer English Language (ESOL), Customer Service and Computer Skills classes to support Somerville small businesses and their employees. This is a FREE program designed to bring growth and stability to local small businesses by investing in their workforce.


  2. If you are a low-income employee of a small business in Somerville (fewer than 100 employees), we welcome you to apply!


CLASSES

1. English Language (ESOL) Classes) 

Enroll in this class if you or your employer would like to see you improve your English language skills. Expected times and locations are below. You will be asked to take a placement evaluation to determine the appropriate level for you.

Requirements: Placement evaluation to determine the level of class 

Details: Mondays and Wednesdays, January 22 – April 10, 2024 
Morning levels 1-3 
9:30am-12pm at Mystic Activity Center (530 Mystic Ave Somerville, MA 02145) 
Evening levels 1-3 
6:30-8:30pm at Healey School (5 Meacham St, Somerville, MA 02145) 
Evening levels 3-4 
6:30-8:00pm online via Zoom

2. Customer Service
Enroll in this class if you or your employer would like you to improve your skills working with customers.

Requirements:  English Language Skills

Date: 10 Thursdays, February 1, 2024 – April 4, 2024,  2pm – 4:30pm  
Location: Connexion, 149 Broadway, Somerville, MA 02145 


3. Digital Literacy/Computer Skills  
Enroll in this class if you or your employer would like you to learn basic computer skills or build on your current knowledge. 

RequirementsEnglish Language Skills 

Date: 10 Tuesdays, January 30, 2024 – April 2, 2024,2pm – 4:30pm  
Location: Somerville Community Corporation, 337 Somerville Avenue, 2nd Floor, Somerville, MA 02143  


Note: Both the Customer Service and Computer Skills classes will be offered two more times later in the year from April-June 2024 and July-September 2024.

To remove any financial barriers to participating, you will receive a stipend. You will also receive a laptop and mobile hotspot to use and keep. If admitted into the class, you will be sent a form for your Employer to complete and sign.
