APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS - PLEASE READ

Thank you for your interest in the CFC Satellite: Worldbuilding workshop. 


This workshop is designed for a curated group of up to 15 creators from across mediums (film, TV, gaming, XR), in order to provide a setting to discuss worldbuilding methodology, case studies, and provide hands-on learning and in-session mentorship.


Deadline to apply: Monday, January 25th, 2024


Applications will be reviewed by an independent panel and will be notified about their acceptance into this workshop by email no later than January 26th, 2024.


This application has several sections. Please complete all required fields, review your information, and then submit for consideration.

Eligibility:

  • Please note that this workshop is open only to applicants who reside in Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia or New Brunswick.

Creators are encouraged to apply to this workshop if they.

  • Have been credited as a senior creative leader (Director, Creative Director, Writer, Narrative Designer) on at least one project aired on a major broadcast network or streaming platform (film or TV content), or distributed on a major gaming or app store platform (game or XR content.) Posting on social media platforms does not count towards this qualification.
  • Have demonstrable interest in developing wholly owned story IP.
  • Are available for the workshop dates of February 6th and 7th, 2024.
  • Are Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada.
  • Are 18 years or older.

Cost: Participation in this workshop is made possible with funding provided by Telefilm Canada.

Information collected in the below Self-Identification Questionnaire is kept in a secure location: access to this information is restricted only to CFC personnel with valid reasons who require it – including but not limited to CFC Programs, Legal, IT, and Communications, and it will be destroyed after the CFC has analyzed the information and its subsequent anonymization (unless otherwise required by law).  You may withdraw your consent to the CFC’s continued use of the information provided in this Questionnaire at any time during the collection or over the period during which the information is held by the CFC prior to its anonymization.

CONSENT FORMS

RESPECT IN THE WORKPLACE POLICY

CFC has a zero-tolerance policy with respect to discrimination and harassment in the workplace. All applicants accepted into the workshop must familiarize themselves with the CFC's Respect in the Workplace policy available here and acknowledge and agree to this policy.
CONFIDENTIALITY
All applicants accepted into the workshop may have access to, become acquainted with or acquire from CFC, workshop mentors, guests or other workshop participants information which is confidential or material non-public information (“Confidential Information”). If accepted into the workshop, you agree that you will not disclose any Confidential Information to any third party or any unauthorized party or to use Confidential Information for any purpose at any time, for any reason other than with respect to your participation in the workshop.
RIGHTS AND RELEASE
If accepted into the workshop, you agree: i) that you will own all rights to the story world project IP generated by you under the workshop; ii) to grant to CFC the non-exclusive right to reproduce, use and display all or part of your story world IP, as well as your name, approved likeness and biographical material, for the purposes of promoting the CFC, the workshop and your story world project and for all other educational and CFC purposes; and iii) that participating in the workshop is a collaborative process and that you will not acquire any right, title or interest in or to any other workshop participant’s project and hereby quitclaim and release any such right.
REPRESENTATIONS AND WARRANTIES
If accepted into the workshop, you agree that any underlying concepts, treatments, outlines, characters and stories contributing to the original story world IP brought into the workshop, as well as all materials created by you during the workshop, will be entirely original and will not infringe on the rights of any other person.
TERMINATION
If accepted into the workshop, you agree that the CFC reserves the right to terminate your participation if at any time you are in breach of the above terms or should the CFC determine, in its sole discretion, that your behaviour is delaying or negatively impacting the workshop.  
STATEMENT OF TRUTH
The information provided in this application is true and complete to the best of your knowledge and you understand that a false statement may result in disqualification and rejection of this application by the CFC.
