Penn Medicine Medical Assistant Training Program Application

Program Eligibility

Thank you for your interest in the Medical Assistant Program built in partnership with Penn Medicine, Congreso de Latinos Unidos, and American Training Center!


Because this part of the application process can take 45-minutes or more to complete well, first answer the questions below to determine if you meet the requirements to fill out this application. 


All applications must be submitted by 5PM onFriday, January 19th.
Final program decisions will be sent after 5PM on: February 6th. 


Important: Because of the short time the application will be open, you may receive emails inviting you to schedule group testing and virtual interviews within 48 hours after submitting an application. Please check your email frequently for invitations and updates. No follow-up is necessary.    





Program Description

The Medical Assistant Program is designed to connect participants to the training and supports to build a career at Penn Medicine. Students will actively engage in professional development and career coaching with WPSI before completing 8-weeks of Medical Assistant coursework at Congreso. After program and certification completion, students will complete a 4-week externship at Penn Medicine to become full-time Medical Assistants with a starting salary of $20.99/hr.


In this program we offer:

  • Cutting-edge job connection strategies resulting in 96% of WPSI graduates finding employment.
  • A $150 weekly stipend while in WPSI's Professional Developemnt training
  • No-cost Medical Assistant training and testing by Congreso and the Amercian Training Center.
  • The opportunity to earn $20.99/hour with benefits as Medical Assistants with Penn Medicine after externship completion.

Who should apply?

Customer service professionals that are comfortable withing with a computer and bodily fluids. Commitment to the full training schedule (below) is required:
  • Facilitated sessions at WPSI Mon - Fri, 9am-12pm, February 2nd - March 1st.
  • One self-scheduled 30-minute Career Coaching session per month via Zoom
  • Additional one-on-one and small group virtual meetings several times a week between 1pm -3pm
  • Approximately 2 hours of daily reading and reflection exercises
  • Congreso Medical Assistant Coursework at Congreso: Mon-Friday, 9am-2pm March 4th - April 30th.
