AFS Shortcase

About the AFS ShortCase
The AFS ShortCase is a program of short films made by AFS members. Films selected for inclusion in the 2024 AFS ShortCase will be notified by late February and identified via AFS promotional outlets in the lead-up to the screening on March 10, 2024, at the AFS Cinema. Please note the AFS ShortCase is not a program of the SXSW Film Festival. Keep in mind that if you’ve applied for official SXSW programming, you may not be eligible for the ShortCase if accepted.

I agree that I have reviewed the guidelines and warrant that I meet all AFS ShortCase eligibility requirements. The information in this application, including all attachments and supporting materials is true and correct to the best of my knowledge.  I acknowledge that all decisions regarding funding are by AFS with consideration of feedback from AFS approved consultants. I acknowledge and agree that AFS has no obligation to me to release any details of AFS decision-making process or internal discussions regarding the application, all of which are confidential to AFS, and that all decisions by AFS regarding selection and the application process are final and are not subject to appeal.

Please note that purchasing a MAKE membership does not guarantee selection into the program, and AFS does not grant refunds if your film is not selected. However, the MAKE membership is a great way to stay connected to future opportunities. The year-round membership benefits can be seen here.

AFS agrees that the application materials submitted are for use in the AFS ShortCase decision-making process.  I agree to indemnify AFS and hold AFS harmless from and against any claim, loss, obligation, liability, cost or expense, including outside attorney’s fees and cost, which may be asserted against AFS that arise out of or in connection with my application.

If selected, I agree that all rights and licenses associated with the film have been or will be cleared by the time of the screening. If selected, I understand that I must submit a final digital video file (DCP or H264 Mp4) to AFS by February 27th. Failure to do so can mean withdrawal of the film from the program.

Lastly, I understand that AFS ShortCase is an AFS community screening and will not be considered an official SXSW selection.
